Thor: Love and Thunder Boasts Huge Opening Night!
Thor: Love and Thunder has opened and fans are flocking to theaters nationwide!
A Tremendous Opening Night
The film, which marks Chris Hemsworth’s fourth solo film as Marvel Super Hero Thor, premiered Thursday night.
Marking the fifth highest opening for a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, Thor: Love and Thunder brought in $29 million in domestic box office sales.Tied with Rogue One, this marks the 13th highest movie opening ever!
Sure to be one of the biggest films of the year, it is currently the second biggest Thursday opening of 2022. It follows Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which earned $36 million for its debut.
Estimates for the film’s earnings this weekend range from $145 million to as high as $170 million!
An Action-Packed Rom-Com
Thor: Love and Thunder promises an action-packed adventure filled with beloved MCU characters and, it appears, somewhat of a romantic plot.
Hemsworth says Thor: Love and Thunder is a “wacky comedy set in space.”
The last time we saw Hemsworth and love interest Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman) share the screen was in Thor: Dark World. In this latest installment, they must reunite to battle Gorr the God Butcher (played by Christian Bale).
The film is sure to delight fans as Portman calls herself the Mighty Thor and claims to be as powerful as Hemsworth’s titular character. Many are looking forward to seeing how things will play out between the exes.
Guardians Join the Cast
We suspect the central story line will center on Thor, Jane Foster and new villain, Gorr the God Butcher. Much to the delight of fans, several Guardians of the Galaxy are set to appear in the film as well.
Featured in the film will be: Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Drax (Dave Bautista), Korg (Take Waititi), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel).

Fans will also see Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) and Lady Sif (played by Jamie Alexander). Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo) and Grandmaster (played by Jeff Goldblum) are also included in the star-studded MCU cast.
