Disney Cruise Line Increases Recommended Gratuity
Anyone who has experienced a Disney Cruise vacation knows that the crew aboard the ships are top notch. They go above and beyond the norm to provide their guests with a magical experience. As a way to recognize all that they do, Disney Cruise Line has increased their recommended gratuity guidelines for select positions.
The recommended increase is $0.25 per person/per day for the Assistant Dining Room Server, Dining Room Server, Dining Room Head Server and Stateroom Host/Hostess. The total recommended gratuity is $14.50 per person/per day based on the length of the cruise.
- Dining Room Server – $4.75 per person/per day
- Assistant Dining Room Server – $3.75 per person/per day
- Dining Room Head Server – $1.25 per person/per day
- Stateroom Host – $4.75 per person/per day
Disney Cruise Line has not increased the recommended gratuities since January 2019. Before this, the last increase had not occurred since 2008.
If guests with current sailings added pre-paid gratuities to their reservation prior to July 2, 2022, they will keep that rate of $13.50 per guest, per night. Guests who add pre-paid gratuities going forward, will be charged the new rate of $14.50 per guest, per night of their sailing.
Additionally, Disney Cruise Line has added the Assistant Stateroom Host/Hostess position to their recommended gratuities for Concierge Guests. The recommended gratuity is $15.50 per person/per day based on the length of the cruise for Concierge Guests. Additionally, Disney has mentioned that Concierge Guests often ask them for guidance regarding gratuities for the Concierge Lounge Team. As a suggestion, they are recommending $8 per Guest/per day for the voyage, but it is always up to the Guest to determine what they feel is appropriate.
If you did not get a chance to pre-pay gratuities before boarding the ship, Disney Cruise Line will automatically charge your onboard account the suggested gratuity amount. Once on the ship, you can adjust the amount of your Pre-Paid Gratuities by using your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to book an appointment with the Guest Services desk prior to the end of your cruise.
Just to re-cap, Pre-Paid Gratuities do not include the following gratuities, which are either included in the charge or based on your discretion:
- Extras added to rotational dining meals such as alcoholic beverages
- Adult dining locations such as Remy, Palo, Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, which are not part of rotational dining
- Food or drink in shops and outdoor or poolside eateries
- Room service
- Port Adventures
- Senses Spa & Salon
- Concierge Lounge Team—Guests staying in Concierge accommodations are recommended a gratuity amount of $8.00 per night, per stateroom Guest
- Any other additional services
An 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, deck service tabs and spa services. All gratuities can be charged to your onboard account.
