John Williams is Ready for Retirement
John Williams recently sat down to discuss his future plans in the film industry. At the age of 90, John has his eyes set on retirement.
“At the moment I’m working on ‘Indiana Jones 5,’ which Harrison Ford – who is quite a bit younger than I am – I think has announced will be his last film,” said Williams. “So I thought: If Harrison can do it, then perhaps I can, also.”
Undoubtedly, the legendary composer has given us many gifts over the course of his lengthy career.
Williams gave us the instantly recognizable scores of the Star Wars Saga, Indiana Jones films, Jaws, and many more.
Willams has recognized that the level of commitment for big film projects is beyond what he can commit to now.
Instead, Williams is looking forward to working on his own music, a piano concerto he has been writing for Emanuel Ax.
Although Ford has not officially announced his retirement from film, I do know that these two men deserve a retirement fit for royalty.
In the meantime, we can look forward to one last project: ‘Indiana Jones 5,’ set to release on June 30th 2023.
