CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Work On Tron Coaster and Light & Power Co. Continues at Magic Kingdom
MickeyBlog is celebrating Father’s Day with a trip over to Tomorrowland ant the Magic Kingdom where work continues on the TRON Coaster as well as the neighboring Light & Power Co.
As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, much of the work to the TRON building and canopy has already been completed.
Disney has even been testing the ride vehicles for the attraction.
However there is still much work to be done to the grounds around the coaster.
Below you can see the tunnel that will be part of the track of the Walt Disney World Railroad.
The original railroad tracks ran right through the TRON construction area which meant the Walt Disney World has also been shut down during the construction process.
However, Disney has been hard at work laying down the tracks again.
Evidence of this can also be seen in the Storybook Circus area of Magic Kingdom where the station area is currently behind construction walls.
Above you can get a look at the exit or entry area for the attraction.
Concrete is still being laid in this area.
The concrete partitions are new since the last time we popped by Tomorrowland to check out construction.
In addition to work on the TRON Coaster, renovations are also being done at the Light & Power Co.
For those unfamiliar, this is the gift shop adjacent to Space Mountain.
The Light & Power Co will also share a walkway with the TRON Coaster.
It also sits next to the Tomorrowland Speedway.
As a matter of fact, you can see the race track for the Speedway sitting just below the gift shop.
Light & Power Co. has remained open but some of the exits are blocked off due to construction.
Here’s a closer look at the stunning TRON Coaster canopies.
One the ride opens, the canopies will be illuminated to give riders underneath the sense that you are cruising through cyberspace.
As of going to print, Disney has yet to reveal an official opening date for the attraction.
We do know that the ride vehicles are in place and that testing has begun.
We’re optimistic that we’ll get word soon!
