Doses of Disney on TikTok Promote Park Attendance
TikTok is all the rage right now, and you never know when a video will go viral. Well, doses of Disney are posted on TikTok each day. Oftentimes, those videos go viral and result in increased park attendance.
Disney Parks started its TikTok account in September 2020. Eleven content creators (also Disney Cast Members) run the account and mostly come up with their own content. However, sometimes Disney gives them content to highlight.
Olaf
Currently, Disney’s TikTok account has 4.7 million followers; therefore, plenty of people watch any given video. For example, one Disney video showed how chocolatiers make hot chocolate bombs in the shape of Olaf in December 2020.
This particular video obtained more than 7.4 million views. Not only that, but the Olaf chocolate bombs sold out daily. Plus, Disney allowed Guests to only purchase two and they created more Olaf molds for The Ganachery at Disney Springs.
Figment
Then came the Figment popcorn bucket. Yes, I know you remember the craze! Disney posted a TikTok video promoting the bucket in January 2022. It obtained 885,000 views and the first batch of Figment popcorn buckets sold out in four days.
Guests waited in line for HOURS upon HOURS for the bucket, and the hashtag #FigmentPopcornBucket has more than 22 million views on TikTok.
Duffy & Friends
So, how does Disney Parks use TikTok feedback? Mainly, they watch video comments in order to guide them toward future videos. They watch to see what Guests desire.
Another example is Duffy & Friends, characters who are typically found in Asian Disney destinations. People stated they wanted Duffy & Friends to come to the United States, so now they can be found at the Aulani Resort in Hawaii.
Bigger Benefit Than Merchandise
Not only do Guests buy more merchandise, but TikTok also helps Disney Parks with theme park visitations. After all, TikTok videos also highlight new attractions.
An April 2021 TikTok video showed someone creating a droid at Droid Depot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It gained 7 million views and Park Pass Reservations for the next month increased by 83%.
