‘Doctor Who’ Casts Neil Patrick Harris
Attention Whovians! Neil Patrick Harris is the latest addition in the upcoming 60th Anniversary of ‘Doctor Who.’
Our favorite child doctor, will join the ranks of beloved David Tenant and Catherine Tate for the episode.
Russell T Davies, who reprised the show on BBC One after a 16 year hiatus, posted the following to his Instagram account:
“Neil Patrick Harris, welcome to Cardiff,” Davies wrote. “Playing the greatest enemy the Doctor has ever faced. Such a great actor, such a great man, it’s an honor and a hoot. Have fun!
The History of ‘Doctor Who’
‘Doctor Who’ was originally intended to be an educational series back in 1963 featuring a time machine (TARDIS) in the shape of a Police Box and the mysterious “Doctor” (an extraterrestrial being).
‘Doctor Who’ has been entertaining the masses for almost 60 years.
Since each “Doctor” regenerates into a new “Doctor” when the current body is too badly damaged to heal normally. Over the years, ‘Doctor Who’ has seen 13 different actors play the role of the Doctor since 1963.
Additionally, the 14th Doctor was announced this past May. Ncuti Gatwa will take over the role from Jodie Whittaker.
‘Doctor Who’ has become a cult classic over the years as a prominent TV series in British culture.
Of course, I myself, became hooked on ‘Doctor Who’ as a teenager when it aired on my local PBS station on Friday nights. (Still a Whovian today!)
Are you as excited as I am, Whovians? Stay tuned to see Neil Patrick Harris in “Doctor Who: 60th Anniversary special” in 2023!
