Walt Disney World Wait Times for First Week of June 2022
Okay, the holidays have ended at Walt Disney World, but now the fun has begun.
We’ve (unofficially) entered the summer tourism season at theme parks around the world. And Walt Disney World is the most popular one of all.
So, the next ten weeks of Walt Disney World wait times should be among the highest of the year. Did the trend start this week? Let’s see!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
The first question we always ask involves Avatar Flight of Passage. Animal Kingdom is the most experiential of the Walt Disney World parks.
For this reason, this place doesn’t offer as many rides. Ergo, when Flight of Passage’s wait time increases, it ripples to the rest of the park.
The reverse is true as well, which is why the news starts positive this week. Avatar Flight of Passage averaged a wait of 120 minutes, down 13 minutes from last time.
Did this trend continue across the park? Here’s the data:
- Na’vi River Journey – 75 minutes, down 8
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 60 minutes, down 7
- Kali River Rapids – 45 minutes, down 7
- Expedition Everest – 40 minutes, down 2
- DINOSAUR – 34 minutes, up 1
- TriceraTop Spin – 14 minutes, no change
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 12 minutes, down 6
As you can see, most attractions decreased their wait times. The explanation why is readily apparent.
Last week included a holiday period, and those are consistently among the busiest times at Disney parks.
Overall, Animal Kingdom attractions averaged a wait of 50 minutes, down seven minutes. Still, that’s nine minutes higher than mid-May.
We’re trending up even though the current wait times have gone down in the wake of the holiday.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
As usual, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance required the longest wait, although this week was closer than most.
The Star Wars masterpiece averaged a wait of 112 minutes, down five minutes from the holiday week.
Right behind Star Wars was Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It averaged a 110-minute wait, a drop of two minutes.
Here are the other Hollywood Studios attractions:
- Slinky Dog Dash – 92 minutes, down 16
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 90 minutes, up 7
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 70 minutes, up 4
- Toy Story Mania! – 68 minutes, up 7
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 67 minutes, up 2
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 55 minutes, down 8
- Red Carpet Dreams – 50 minutes, down 5
- Meet Sulley at Walt Disney Presents — 42 minutes, up 5
- Celebrity Spotlight – 30 minutes, up 2
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! – 28 minutes, up 2
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 22 minutes, up 3
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change
The average Hollywood Studios attraction came with a wait of 54 minutes, a drop of seven minutes from last time.
As you can see, most of the significant changes came at the top. The less popular attractions trended upward, which happens as more people visit the parks.
EPCOT
As a reminder, we’re not going to cover Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind until it introduces a standby line.
I’m not expecting that to happen until Labor Day at the soonest. So, it’s not something we’re likely to discuss here for a while.
That leaves Frozen Ever After as the attraction with the most demanding standby queue.
The Arendelle ride averaged a 93-minute wait, an increase of 13 minutes. Uh oh.
As usual, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure rounded out the top two. This past week, it averaged an 87-minute wait, a drop of three minutes.
Right now, you can reasonably expect to spend three hours in line to experience both these attractions.
Thankfully, everything else at EPCOT comes with a reasonable wait time. Here’s the proof:
- Test Track – 68 minutes, down 9
- Soarin’ Around the World – 59 minutes, up 18
- Mission: SPACE – 44 minutes, down 2
- Spaceship Earth – 30 minutes, up 10
- Royal Sommerhus – 29 minutes, down 5
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – 27 minutes, up 2
- Living with the Land – 26 minutes, up 5
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 23 minutes, up 5
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 20 minutes, up 10
- Turtle Talk with Crush – 15 minutes, down 1
Overall, EPCOT attractions averaged a wait of 42 minutes, the same as last time.
Most of the damage here came from Soarin’, which does tend to grow more popular when crowds increase. It’s evolved into the fallback E-ticket attraction at EPCOT.
Magic Kingdom
Okay, we’re starting with a surprise at the top. Of course, it’s always unexpected when something other than Seven Dwarfs Mine Train leads this list.
In a rare turn of events, Jungle Cruise required the longest wait. Guests waited an average of 95 minutes, an increase of 23 minutes, just to hear bad puns.
Speaking of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, it averaged a wait of 83 minutes, up six minutes.
Other Magic Kingdom Wait Times
Here’s the rest of the park’s data:
- Peter Pan’s Flight – 75 minutes, up 5
- Splash Mountain – 68 minutes, up 2
- Space Mountain – 59 minutes, up 10
- Haunted Mansion – 57 minutes, up 10

- It’s a Small World – 37 minutes, up 8
- Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid – 32 minutes, no change
- Tomorrowland Speedway – 30 minutes, up 7
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin – 27 minutes, up 1
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant – 26 minutes, up 8
- The Barnstormer – 25 minutes, up 5
- Mad Tea Party – 24 minutes, up 10
- Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor – 20 minutes, up 4
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel – 19 minutes, up 2
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic – 15 minutes, no change
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – 16 minutes, up 4
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 5 minutes, no change
- Country Bear Jamboree – 5 minutes, no change
Magic Kingdom obviously increased over the past week. Guests waited an average of 42 minutes, up four minutes from Memorial Day.
So, this week, we had a weird split with EPCOT and Magic Kingdom up but Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios down.
The explanation for EPCOT is almost assuredly the continued presence of Cosmic Rewind.
Meanwhile, Magic Kingdom is just the place where everyone wants to be.
