National Donald Duck Day is June 9th!
If everyone looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it must be… National Donald Duck Day! What a perfect day to celebrate one of our all-time favorite Disney characters. Let’s take a minute to reflect on this one-of-a-kind DUCK!
Why June 9th?
According to the Walt Disney Company, June 9, 1934 is when Donald Duck made his debut film appearance in the Silly Symphony cartoon, “The Wise Little Hen.” Although there is some controversy as if today is actually his birthday.
They say that a character’s first appearance is their birthday, however, some say that it was revealed in a 1940’s cartoon that Donald Duck was born on Friday, March 13th. What do you think, is it coincidence that he was born on Friday the 13th?!
88 Years Young
It’s no wonder we celebrate National Donald Duck Day, he is one of the Fab Five, and Mickey’s #1 pal, after all! I mean, what’s not to love about this fluffy duck in his signature sailer suit and no pants?! We have all grown to love this complex character for his grumpy, yet charming, larger than life personality.
He’s so famous, he was even given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! How many Disney characters do you think have their very own star? Disney Characters on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
