VIDEO: “Lightyear” Tickets On Sale; New Clip, Poster Blast Off
Opening a week from Friday, tickets for the much-anticipated Buzz Lightyear origin story film, “Lightyear,” went on sale today. The first Pixar animated film to go to theatres since 2020’s “Onward,” the buzz around this film continues to grow with the release today of a new poster and clip.
Playing on Lightyear’s most famous phrase, “To Inifity and Beyond,” the new poster urges moviegoers to “Go Beyond Infinity,” seeing the film in I-MAX rather than on a traditional screen.

“Today, we have one objective: Sell you #lightyear tickets! The Pixar Buzz Lightyear movie blasts off into theatres June 17 and tickets are on sale now,” said Fandago in a Tweet this morning that accompanied the new clip.
“Lightyear” Plot Thickens
In the new clip, Buzz Lightyear and his teammates explain their mission, “Operation: Suprise Party.” The team must destroy the evil, Emperor Zurg’s ship in order to take out his robots and place a crystal in the Turnip, another spaceship that hosts a colony the group intends to save.
We also get another glimpse of Sox, the darling robotic cat companion of Buzz. The entire scene captures the incredible shadows dispalyed in previous clips shared as well as the ground-breaking level of detail used for the animation in this new film.
“You know his name, but get ready to discover the story behind the toy,” says Chris Evans, who provides the voice for heroic “Buzz,” in an intense promotional video released just minutes ago by Pixar on Twitter. Taika Waititi (“Mo”) and Keke Palmer (“Izzy”) join Evans in the action-packed sequence.
