Florida Keeps an Eye on Possible Tropical Storm Alex
As we head into the weekend, The National Hurricane Center in Miami has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for a system that is expected to develop into Tropical Storm Alex.
According to a piece in the Orlando Sentinel, Hurricane Hunters overnight have reported on a potential weather system that has sustained tropical-storm force winds of up to 40 mph. However, its yet to become a named storm because it hasn’t yet organized its circulation.

“The system is expected to develop a well-defined center and become a tropical storm later today, and some slight strengthening is possible while it approaches Florida today and tonight,” said NHC Senior Hurricane Specialists Robbie Berg.
As you can see from the image above, a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from the Gulf Coast down in the Florida Keys to the East Coast at Brevard-Volusia County. As of this morning, the system is located 420 miles southwest of Fort Myers with winds at 40 mph.
So what impact could this have on Disney World visitors? Heavy rains will start to impact South Florida beginning on Friday through Saturday with up to 12 inches of rain predicted. Central Florida Residents will start to feel the impact on late Friday into Saturday with wind gusts and possible tornado activity around the storm’s path.
If you have plans on visiting Disney World this weekend, pay attention to the weather before and while heading to the parks and plan according. Its definitely worth having a change of clothes and rain ponchos in your theme parks bag.
