‘Princess and the Frog’ Transformation of Splash Mountain to be Complete in 2024
It’s been just under two years since Disney announced the iconic Splash Mountain attraction would be reimagined into a “Princess and the Frog”-themed attraction at both the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and Disneyland Park in the Disneyland Resort. Since that announcement was made, not many details have been released about the transformation including when it might be complete.
Well, this morning that has all changed thanks to the voice of Princess Tiana herself, Anika Noni Rose. Rose was being interviewed on the hit morning talk show, “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” when she was asked if Disney had plans to make a Princess and the Frog attraction at their theme parks.
That is when Rose replied, “They are making a ride and it will be out in 2024.”
As mentioned above, this is not an official confirmation from Disney but hopefully this will spur them to release one in the near future.
Once the Splash Mountain transformation to a “Princess and the Frog” attraction is complete, the ride will immerse Guests into the story at the final kiss scene. It is from there that Guests will go on a musical adventure complete with iconic songs from the movie and their first-ever appearance at Mardi Gras.
When the attraction was previously announced back in 2022, Rose, said, “It is really exciting to know that Princess Tiana’s presence in both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom will finally be realized! As passionate as I am about what we created, I know the fans are going to be over the moon. The Imagineers are giving us ‘The Princess and the Frog’ Mardi Gras celebration we’ve been waiting for, and I’m here for it!”
While Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom previously closed for a brief refurbishment earlier this year, that was just part of the attraction’s scheduled maintenance. When the ride eventually closes for it’s re-imagination into a “Princess and the Frog” attraction, the amount of time the attraction will be closed at both the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park will likely be a lot longer.
