Radiator Springs Racers Closed Indefinitely
We’ve learned that Radiator Springs Racers is closed indefinitely.

A Beloved Attraction Shut Down
One of Disney California Adventure’s most popular rides, Radiator Springs Racers first stopped operating on May 24. Guests had witnessed smoke coming from one of the ride’s race cars as it crossed the finish line.
As far as the public was aware, the ride closed temporarily following the incident. That was one week ago.
Disneyland representatives have yet to provide any update on when the ride will reopen.
In fact, the OC Register reported “a Disneyland spokesperson confirmed that there was an issue with a single vehicle. The ride will remain closed indefinitely ‘out of an abundance of caution’.”
Guests Love Radiator Springs Racers
A guest favorite in Cars Land, Radiator Springs Racers puts riders in the middle of a road race. Following a track that emulates Radiator Springs, two Cars-themed vehicles face off.
The cars speed along the track, racing at a speed of 40 mph. The ride also features scenes with favorite characters, including Lightening McQueen, Sally, Mater, Guido and Luigi.
Radiator Springs Racers boasts consistently long lines. It is one of the most in-demand rides across both Disneyland Resort parks.
While the attraction is available to purchase as an Individual Lightening Lane Attraction, it is one of few Disneyland attractions that maintains a single-rider line despite the introduction of Genie+.
When Will Guests Ride Again?
While we are not sure when the ride will reopen, executives have indicated that guests will likely see its race cars being tested without riders before it reopens.
Sadly, no guests reported seeing such tests over Memorial Day weekend.
In the meantime, a temporary entertainment area has been erected near the ride queue. Here, guests can play corn hole, trade pins and even receive stickers from cast members.
