Port Canaveral Preps For Arrival of Disney Wish
The Disney Wish will start whisking passengers away on magical sailings from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas beginning on July 14th. With this in mind, Port Canaveral is a bustle of activity as it readies to welcome the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
According to a piece in today’s Orlando Sentinel, the port will be opening the Jetty Park to crowds on June 20th to welcome the vessel as it arrives from its transatlantic crossing. The Wish is expected to arrive between 4-7 am on the 20th when it will dock at both Cruise Terminals 8 and 10.

Another special event at Port Canaveral for the Disney Wish will also take place on June 29th. We’re told that this event will be the ships christening which is happening ahead of a 4-night preview cruise for members of the media and travel agents.
In the memo, which the Sentinel had access to, special site installations will happen at the terminal from June 16-28 including bleachers, stage setup, audio towers, light towers, video walls, tents, special effects and more! It sounds like quite the celebration.
This isn’t anything out of the ordinary. Historically Disney Cruise Line has pulled out all of the stop s when it comes to welcoming a new ship into the fleet. Back in 2011 when the Dream debuted the launch event even included a performance from Jennifer Hudson.
The arrival of the Wish will also require a bit of a reshuffle for the Disney Dream which will be moved to the port in Miami starting on June 6th. Disney Wish will be taking over the Dream’s previous itineraries with 3 & 4-night sailings to the Bahamas including stops at Disney’s Private island Castaway Cay.

The Disney Wish is the first of three new ships that will be joining the Disney Cruise Line fleet. As we’ve previously reported here at MickeyBlog, the ship boats 1,254 staterooms! The other ships are expected to be unveiled in 2024 and 2025.
If you’ve been following along with us, you’ll know that construction on the Wish started back in 2020 and was built in Germany. The completed Wish departed from the shipyard in March and has been undergoing sea trials in the North Sea and Europe prior to crossing the Atlantic next month.

The stern character featured on the wish is Rapunzel from Tangled and among the awesome onboard amenities is the AquaMouse which is being dubbed the first Disney attraction at sea! Other highlights include Frozen and Avengers-themed dining experiences as well as a Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge for grown-ups!
The Oceaneer Club will continue its tradition of pampering kids at sea with a bounty of amazing activities including the Marvel Super Hero Academy and Star Wars: Cargo Bay. A new version of The Little Mermaid will also make its debut on stage along with the beloved Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular
