Must Watch List Before Obi-Wan Kenobi Premieres on Disney+
We are under two weeks away from the debut of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+. The two-episode series premiere arrives on Disney’s streaming network on May 27th and to get your ready, here’s a crash course on some of the perfect Star Wars projects to watch (or rewatch) in the lead-in.
All of the titles below can be found on Disney+
The Star Wars Prequels
The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith and Obi-Wan Kenobi provide context for Obi-Wan’s journey from Padawan learner to Jedi master and on how he became so involved with the Skywalkers in the first place. Plus, Obi-Wan Kenobi is set after the events of Revenge of the Sith which continues the character arc and emotional journey of the Jedi.
Star Wars: A New Hope
This is the film that started it all! New Hope is our first introduction to Obi-Wan as a character. This is the film that made many fans wonder who exactly ‘Old Ben” Kenobi was and what was his story before rescuing Luke from the Tusken Raiders?
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
If you’re yet to check out The Clone Wars, now is the perfect time to catch up on seven seasons of this fan-favorite animated series. The show is set between Attack of the Clones as well as Revenge of the Sith. The series depicts Obi-Wan’s time serving as a general in the Clone Wars and protecting the Republic. This is a fantastic, simple way to explore the character and his relationships!
Star Wars Rebels
Though Obi-Wan only has a small cameo appearance in Star Wars Rebels, the galaxy is similar to what you’ll be seeing during this series according to D23. Rebels sets the stage for a pre- A New Hope era of Star Wars, the Empire is in control and the Force sensitive are hunted down. Darth Vader is a new, mysterious and fearsome enemy. Rebels also introduces us to the Inquisitorious which was created by Darth Sidious to hunt down the Jedi. This is where you are introduced to The Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother (who also appears in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.)
