Your Guide To Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog, you’ll know that we’ve been exploring many of our favorite Disney resorts. Next up is my family’s personal favorite, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. This property, nestled beneath a fantastic forest of Cyprus trees has it all and it’s secluded vibe makes it hard to believe that your a simply a five minute boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom.
Theming:
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground evokes the timeless beauty of the American frontier. Teeming with such wildlife as deer, ducks, armadillos and rabbits, the Resort welcomes you to delight in scenic woodland trails, exciting pool areas, rootin’ tootin’ entertainment and hearty country eats.
Location:
Located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area, the property sites next to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort and is just across Seven Seas Lagoon from the Magic Kingdom.
Transportation:
Getting around during your stay at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground t is easy. Let’s take a look:
- Magic Kingdom: Boat
- EPCOT: Bus
- Hollywood Studios: Bus
- Animal Kingdom: Bus
- Disney Springs: Bus
In addition, because of the size of Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, which spans across 750 acres there is the following transportation to get you around the resort:
- Internal Bus – Take a complimentary bus from the cabins and campsites to the Settlement for dinner shows, groceries and the beach, and to Meadow Recreation Area for swimming, arcade games and canoe and bike rentals.
- Golf Cart – RECOMMENDED -Explore Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground with ease when you rent an electric golf cart. Advance reservations are highly recommended. Golf Cart Rentals are $62.91 per cart per day.
Accommodation:
Wilderness Cabin – Settle in to your fully furnished private cabin in the woods spacious enough to sleep 6 adults. Brimming with rustic charm, these hideaways offer a living room, bedroom, full bathroom, private patio, charcoal grill and modern kitchen complete with a refrigerator, dishwasher, convection/microwave oven and 2 countertop burners. Housekeeping even does your dishes!
Campsites – Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds is home to 4 types of campsites that can accommodate everything from tents to 45-foot and longer RVs, with a maximum of 10 Guests per site. Options are as follows:
- Premium Campsite
- Room for larger style RV
- Accommodates equipment on a concrete pad up to 18 feet by 60 feet.
- Sewage hook-up
- Sleeps up to 10 Adults.
- Premium Meadow Campsite
- Close proximity to Meadow Trading Post, Meadow Recreation Area, Bike Barn and Campfire Area.
- Room for larger stlye RV
- Accommodates equipment on a concrete pad up to 18 feet by 60 feet.
- Sewage hook-up
- Sleeps up to 10 Adults
- Full Hook-Up Campsite
- Room for RV plus a tent
- Accommodates equipment on a concrete pad up to 10 feet by 50 feet.
- Sewage hook-up
- Sleeps up to 10 Adults.
- Tent or Pop-Up Campsite
- Room for a pop-up camper or camper van-type vehicle and up to 2 tents.
- Accommodates equipment on a concrete pad up to 10 feet by 25 feet
- Sleeps up to 10 Adults.
- Preferred Campsite
- Close to the Marina
- Room for RV plus small tent
- Accommodates equipment on a concrete pad up to 10 feet by 45 feet

Dining:
The following dining locations are located at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
- PB & J Southern Takeout – This quick service spot is the perfect place to rustle up some breakfast, lunch or dinner to enjoy on one of the nearby picnic tables or at your campsite. For breakfast you and enjoy breakfast sandwiches, muffins, Mickey Waffles, Biscuits and gravy and more! For Lunch and dinner you’ll find everything from a delicious Garden Salad to a Fried Chicken Dinner. There’s also a kids menu with comfort foods that little ones a sure to love (including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.)
- Meadow Snack Bar- The open air snack spot serves up tasty salads, sandwiches and light snacks as well as beer and sodas. You can also order frozen treats to enjoy at the adjacent pool area.
- Crockett’s Tavern – This walk-up window is located next to Pioneer Hall. You find both draft and bottled beer as well as wine. There’s also a lounge menu where you’ll find favorites like loaded nachos and chicken wings!
- The Chuck Wagon – This camper near marina serves up quick service bites including classic fare and savory snacks. This is THE place to go at Fort Wilderness for their Angus Cheeseburger as well as the iconic Mickey Pretzel’s.
- Trail’s End- This casual Table Service location is a favorite with Disney regulars for its breakfast buffet but its sure to delight anytime of day. In the early am you’ll find a bountiful breakfast with everything from Mickey Waffles to Brisket and Eggs. Later in the day all-you-care-to-enjoy skillets are brought to your table brimming with pecan-smoked brisket, smoked chicken, pulled pork, corn-on-the-cob and more!
- Hoop-Dee-Doo-Revue- Returning next month, Vaudeville meets Disney during this 2 hour dinner theatre experience. You never know what to expect when Claire de Lune, Johnny Ringo, Dolly Drew, Six Bits Slocum, Flora Long and Jim Handy hit the stage. But you do know that it’s not going to be dull! Between skits and musical numbers buckets of all-you-care-to-enjoy fried chicken and smoked BBQ pork ribs will be brought to your table along with salad, baked beans, fresh-baked cornbread and strawberry shortcake.
Swimming Pools:
- Meadow Swimmin’ Pool – Make a splash at this feature pool which includes a 67 foot-long corkscrew waterslide. The location also includes a whirlpool spa, fort-themed water play area and nearby snack and refreshment spot.
- Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool – Retreat to the Wilderness for this all-ages leisure pool with whirlpool spa. This is the perfect spot for a more tranquil swim.

- Fort Wilderness Archery Experience – Guests 7 years of age and up can learn how to hold and fire a compound bow during this 75-minute session.
- Tri-Circle-D-Ranch – Mosey on over for trail, pony, wagon and carriage rides amid the rustic beauty of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
- Chip N’ Dale Campfire Singalong – Join nutty friends Chip ‘n’ Dale for some old-fashioned family fun as you roast marshmallows around a crackling fire.
- Fishing – Reel in some old-fashioned fun with a guided fishing excursion out on the water.
- Motorized Boat Rentals – Cruise around Bay Lake aboard a motorized boat, available from the Fort Wilderness Marina.
- Bike Rentals – Grab a rental from the Bike Barn and cycle through pine forests and meadows teeming with wildlife.
- Canoe Rentals – Discover adventure around every bend as you explore nearby inlets and waterways.
- Kayak Rentals – Chart your own course at your own pace on the serene waterways of the Resort.
- Basketball Courts – Shoot some hoops at one of several basketball courts located throughout Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
- Jogging Trails- Jog through lush meadows and pine and cypress groves. Maps are available from the Concierge.
- Playgrounds – Kids can climb, slide and swing to their hearts’ content at playgrounds throughout Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
- Volleyball – Enjoy a friendly volleyball match on a sandy court located at Meadow Recreation Area. Complimentary equipment is available at the Bike Barn for all Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel.
- Davy Crockett’s Wilderness Arcade – Head on down to Pioneer Hall for a variety of video and pinball games.
- Daniel Boone’s Wilderness Arcade – Delight in games both classic and contemporary at this arcade near the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool.
- Wilderness Backtrail Adventure – Experience nature the high-tech way as you explore Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and beyond on a Segway® X2.
Shopping:
- Meadow Trading Post – Make your wilderness adventure more civilized with basic groceries, camping supplies, sundries, Disney merch and even movie rentals! Located near Meadow Swimmin’ Pool.
- Settlement Trading Post- Stock up on groceries, snacks, beverage, supplies and Disney merchandise so you can relax and unwind in the great outdoors. Located near Marina.
