They’ll be daily live entertainment, specialty offerings including food, art and more available throughout the resort!
Let’s look at little closer at some of the incredible options coming your way!
“Tale of the Lion King” Debuts May 28 at Disneyland Park
Starting on May 28, 2022, Disneyland will welcome Tale of the Lion King. As we previously mentioned here at MickeyBlog, the show is getting a new home at the Fantasyland theater. It is an original store-theatre adaptation of Disney’s The Lion King in a new staging (as you can see from the rendering above.) At the heart of the production is a travelling troupe known as “The Storytellers of the Pride Lands” who take us through this imaginative retelling of how a lion king named Simba becomes king with the use of dialogue, song, dance and percussion.
Pulling the whole project together are stunning scenic and costume designs as well as new musical arrangements, choreography and so much more. Also on May 28, Troubadour Tavern will reopen, serving up a menu inspired by the show!
Celebrate Soulfully at Disney California Adventure Park with Live Entertainment
Starting a few days later on June 1st and running through July 4, 2022, guests will be able to enjoy daily live music celebrating musical genres like Doo-Wop and Motown. Head over to Carthay Circle to take in a performance by the Philly Phonics, an a cappella group performing jazzy tunes from the 1920’s through today!
Also performing is Five & Dime with swing tunes from the 1920s and 1930s!
Once the sun goes down, also head to Hollywood Backlot to enjoy a block party with live musical acts each night!
“The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure” Exhibit and More Coming to the Downtown Disney District
Last year, we shared the exciting details of an exhibit inspired by the Pixar film Soul aptly titled The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure. Since last spring, this musical exhibition has been on tour and will be stopping at the Downtown Disney District from June 1 – July 4, 2022.
Joel Gardner from Soul, takes guests on a musical tour through America showcasing the rich history of jazz. The musical artform was originated by African Americans and the exhibit illustrates the many different cultures and creators who left a lasting influence on the genre.
Complimentary to all resort guests, the exhibit will be located next to Star Wars Trading Post at Downtown Disney.
While your at Downtown Disney, stick around for the nightly live music covering a wide array of genres including jazz, R&B, funk, Motown and Doo-Wop. A DJ will also be performing at the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage on Saturday and Sunday afternoons with a variety of upbeat tunes!
