CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: TRON Coaster Comes Together in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom
Its a new week and you know what that means!? It’s a new chance to look at how construction is coming along over at the TRON Coaster.
With Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind already in soft opening, all attention is now turned to this massive Magic Kingdom coaster project which has been under construction for a few years now.
Progress has really been speeding up this Spring with the external canopies of the attraction now completely covered.
However, work still needs to be completed on the entrances and exits of the building.
As of going to print, Disney is remaining tight lipped about an official opening date.
We’re following this story closely and promise to let you know as soon as we’ve heard more.
As you can see, construction workers were hard at room this morning to the building that houses the indoor portion of the coaster.
The building to the left below has been left unfinished for a few months now.
The track for the coaster whips underneath the outdoor canopy which will be lit up to give the impression that you are soaring through cyber-space.
Last month, on the ground level of the construction site, a tunnel was also built for the Walt Disney World Railroad.
The railroad has been closed for the duration of TRON construction because the coaster now sits atop the former railroad tracks.
Looking at the metal structure below you can see where the lights will be put into place.
The image below gives you a great idea of just how massive the coaster is.
It really takes up a prominent place on the Tomorrowland skyline.
If you’ll be at Disney World soon then we recommend that you pop on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover which offers fantastic views of the construction site.
Just to the right in the image above you can see the building housing Space Mountain.
As you can see there’s still quite a lot of landscaping work to be done.
It is still very much an active construction site.
