National Defense Network Hosted at Disney World for National Military Appreciation Month
May is National Military Appreciation month which is the perfect time to announce that Disney World recently played host to the National Defense Network. The broadcast was the perfect way to shine a spotlight on Disney’s century of supporting the armed forces, military families and veterans.
For those unfamiliar, the National Defense Network produces the ONLY nationally syndicated, weekly radio program dedicated to active military, veterans and families. The Network is broadcast on over 120 stations in the USA each week with an additional 400+ broadcast outlets overseas. They also oversee a weekly podcast called “Celebrity Salute” and 60 second spots “60 Seconds of Service.”
To have the broadcast on Disney property presented a unique experience. Randy Miller of the National Defense Network said, “I enjoyed speaking with Disney leaders and cast members—many of whom are veterans themselves—and hearing their amazing stories.”
The show covered some awesome Disney-related topics including:
- Stories about Disney’s history of honoring servicemembers and veterans
- Conversations with Disney CEO Bob Chapek and Josh D’Amaro about a Disney Heroes Work Here veteran hiring program.
- Vacation planning tips for military families.
- Spotlight on Disney World and Disneyland’s daily Flag Retreat Ceremony.
- Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration.

National Military Appreciation Month started in 1999 and was established to honor both active service members and veterans. Disney will continue to share more stories throughout the month including introducing us to cast members with a connection to the U.S. Armed Forces.
