Check Out Ways that Disney World is Celebrating Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month
In addition to being Military Appreciation month, May is also Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific island Heritage Month. To celebrate Disney is launching “A World of Voices” to shine a spotlight on cast members along with introducing entertainment, food and beverage and more!
Here are a handful of incredible ways that you’ll want to celebrate
EPCOT
Reflections of China – This immersive tour explores the sights and sounds of China. At the China Pavilion you’ll also find architecture, exhibits and culture.
Meet Mulan- Now that character meet and greets have returned to Walt Disney World, Mulan is once again greeting guests at EPCOT’s China Pavilion.

Nine Dragons Restaurant – Head to this China Pavilion table service restaurant to try delectable treats like the Dim Sum Patter featuring vegetable spring rolls, cheesy wontons and house-made General Tso’s chicken shumai along with other delectable dishes.
Matsuriza – Stop by the Japan pavilion to check out Taiko- an ancient form of Japanese drumming. Performances take place multiple times throughout the day.
Mitsukoshi Department Store – This awesome shop includes traditional Japanese architecture and includes various authentic items from kimonos to kawaii pop items imported directly from Japan.
Bijutsu-kan Gallery– The exhibit at the gallery currently takes a look at the pop-culture phenomenon kawaii. You’ll discover how kawaii is rooted in Japan’s Shinto past and how it became a core aspect of Japanese culture.
Canada Pavilion – Head here to celebrate the release of Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red which stars a 13-year old Chinese-Canadian student Mei. Here you’ll find food and drinks inspired by the film like Pand-Ade or “Turning Red” Cake.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
Viva Gaia Street Band – On Discovery Island you can check out the Viva Gaia Street Band which mixes up energetic melodies, vibrant costumes and unstoppable dance moves.
Disney’s Moana Mural – As you wander through Discovery Island, also be on the lookout for the beautiful wall art that is inspired by Disney’s Moana.
Learn to Draw Pua – Head over to the Conservation Station at Disney’s Animal Kingdom where you can learn to draw Moana’s best friend, adorable piglet Pua.
Kakigori – Head over to Caravan Road to try this Japanese shaved ice dessert flavored with syrup and condensed milk.
Tuna Poke Bowl – Another awesome option is this delicious entree now at the Nomad Lounge.
Magic Kingom
Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade – Mulan and Moana join your other favorite Disney characters in this new mini-parade.
Jungle Navigation Co LTD Skipper Canteen – Head to this Adventureland Table Service eatery to sample awesome eats including Veranda Fried Rice or Perkins Thai Noodles.
Aloha Isle – For the ultimate taste of the tropics head over to Aloha Isle to sample an iconic Dole Whip!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Wonderful World of Animation – Starting this month, characters from Raya and the Last Dragon have been added to the finale of this nighttime show that brings to life themes of magic, family and adventure!
Disney Springs
WonderGround Gallery – All month long the gallery will be highlighting filmmakers, artists, authors and screenwriters who work or have worked at Walt Disney Animation Studios including Fawn Veerasunthorn, Gyo Fujikawa, Hyun-min Lee and more!
Morimoto Asia – This may, guests can enjoy special nightly offerings that celebrate Asian and Hawaiian dishes like the Morimoto Asia Loco Moco, a house-blend burger with A-5 Wagyu and Filet Mignon served over a sizzling rice bowl topped with a sunny side up cage-free egg and teriyaki mushroom gravy.
Amorettes Patisserie – Pop by this beloved bakery to try the Philippines Maganda Ube. This traditional Filipino dessert is an ube chiffon layered cake with caramel banana mousse and banana liquor glacage.
BB Wolf’s Sausage Co – Head to this kiosk to sample the Korean Bulgogi Steak Hot Dog which features spicy Korean beef and pork hot dog, bulgogi steak and pickled veggies.
The Ganachery – The chocolate shop has not one but two delectable treats to celebrate Heritage Month including a Sri-Lankan Cinnamon Square along with a Matcha-Yuzu square.
Vivoli Il Gelato – Ask for the refreshing Ube Tiramisu Pop which is made of sweet cream of ube with graham cracker crumbs soaked with coconut.
YeSake – The perfect place for a quick bite, we recommend the Karaage which is Japanese fried chicken. Pair it with the Violet Sake for a refreshing match.
Disney PhotoPass Studio – The home for all things PhotoPass at Disney Springs will be offering complimentary mini photo shoots with backgrounds inspired by Turning Red and Lilo and Stitch. Also be on the lookout for Magic Shots including those featuring Mei and friends.
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
Movies Under the Stars – Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels guests can sit under the stars and watch movies that highlight AANHPI cultures and communities. This includes Lilo and Stitch, Moana and Raya and the Last Dragon.
Sesame Chicken Stir-Fry- Be on the lookout for this delicious Disney on the menu at select resorts. It features chicken, broccoli, red pepper and onion topped with jasmine rice.
Moana-themed Smoothie – Head to Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for this smoothie with flavors of vanilla, watermelon, mango, guava and ginger.
