Walt Disney World Wait Times for the Third Week of April 2022

Okay, let’s not sugarcoat the matter any.

We’re about to talk about wait times during a week when many schools celebrated Spring Break.

Simultaneously, the entire world recognizes Holy Week and its official holiday, Easter.

So, attendance at Disney theme parks was crazy-high last week.

As such, we’re about to discuss some Walt Disney World wait times that are likely ludicrous…but maybe not? Disney has been challenging to predict lately.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

We will know a lot about the entire situation in five seconds.

Avatar Flight of Passage averaged a wait of 112 minutes last week, which was up 12 minutes from the previous week. Honestly, that’s reasonable.

The other Pandora ride, Na’vi River Journey, came with an 82-minute wait, which is up seven minutes.

Ergo, Animal Kingdom attendance ticked up but doesn’t appear nightmarish in nature.

Here are the other attractions for verification:

• Kilimanjaro Safaris – 63 minutes, up 5
• Kali River Rapids – 52 minutes, up 3
• DINOSAUR – 41 minutes, up 6
• Expedition Everest – 38 minutes, n/a
• TriceraTop Spin – 22 minutes, up 2
• It’s Tough to Be a Bug – 16 minutes, up 1

Overall, guests waited an average of 52 minutes, an increase of three minutes from last time.

I will add that Expedition Everest’s data wasn’t complete for this week. In fact, it only had three days of wait times.

You can safely expect this roller coaster to fluctuate more next week until it settles into its new cycle. But it’s definitely nice to have this ride back!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

As always, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance dominates the conversation. Unfortunately, last week, it came with an unholy wait of 180 minutes, which is…too much.

For the past week, Rise of the Resistance dropped to 135 minutes. That speaks to less downtime during the holiday week.

Last week, the second-most popular ride at Hollywood Studios was Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which averaged a 116-minute wait. That’s a drop of seven minutes.

Here’s everything else at the park:

• Slinky Dog Dash – 115 minutes, down 6
• Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 79 minutes, down 22
• Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster – 72 minutes, down 16
• Red Carpet Dreams – 70 minutes, up 41 minutes
• Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 65 minutes, no change
• Toy Story Mania! – 63 minutes, down 10
• Alien Swirling Saucers – 41 minutes, down 28
• Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – 28 minutes, down 2
• Celebrity Spotlight – 27 minutes, up 9
• Meet Sulley at Walt Disney Presents – 18 minutes, n/a
• Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 17 minutes, down 3
• Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, down 2

The average Hollywood Studios attraction dropped dramatically, from 62 minutes to 54 minutes.

However, I should point out that these numbers would appear even more reasonable if not for an x-factor.

Disney just brought back standard character greetings, the ones with hugs and fist bumps.

So, the opportunity to hug Mickey & Minnie Mouse led to an explosion in line sizes at Red Carpet Dreams and other places.

If not for that, we would have witnessed a massive drop in wait times during the holiday, an unexpected turn of events.

EPCOT

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Frozen Ever After continue their competition for the longest wait at EPCOT.

For the past week, Ratatouille “won” again, averaging a wait of 99 minutes, an increase of six minutes.

Meanwhile, Frozen Ever After reached 95 minutes, a 10-minute increase from last time.

As such, EPCOT appears more crowded during Holy Week. Here are the other wait times to prove the point:

• Test Track – 69 minutes, up 3
• Soarin’ Around the World – 48 minutes, up 3
• Mission: SPACE – 41 minutes, no change
• Royal Sommerhus – 35 minutes, up 17
• Spaceship Earth – 27 minutes, down 4
• The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 26 minutes, up 7
• Living with the Land – 20 minutes, up 3
• Journey into Imagination with Figment – 19 minutes, up 3
• Turtle Talk with Crush – 17 minutes, up 2
• Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 15 minutes, up 3

Overall, EPCOT attractions required a wait of 40 minutes, up three minutes from last time.

Still, these numbers wouldn’t have been significantly higher if not for the increased demand at Royal Sommerhus. Everyone wanted to hug Elsa and Anna!

Magic Kingdom

So, two parks increased slightly while another decreased quite a bit, especially by its standards.

That leaves us with Magic Kingdom as the final vote on Easter/Spring Break crowds.

Here are the average wait times at the park last week:

• Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – 107 minutes, up 2
• Jungle Cruise – 82 minutes, down 3
• Peter Pan’s Flight – 81 minutes, up 1
• Splash Mountain – 78 minutes, up 3
• Space Mountain – 70 minutes, up 2
• Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 53 minutes, up 1
• Haunted Mansion – 52 minutes, down 3
• Princess Fairytale Hall – 50 minutes, up 14
• Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – 49 minutes, up 1
• Pirates of the Caribbean – 47 minutes, up 3
• Astro Orbiter – 45 minutes, down 5
• Town Square Theater – 44 minutes, up 33
• The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – 42 minutes, down 1
• It’s a Small World – 41 minutes, no change
• Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid – 36 minutes, down 2
• The Barnstormer – 35 minutes, down 7
• Tomorrowland Speedway – 34 minutes, down 5

Overall, Magic Kingdom attractions averaged a 44-minute wait, up two minutes from last time.

This park would have maintained the status quo if not for the character interaction change.
