Second Canopy NOW Completely Covered on TRON Coaster
We’ve reached an important milestone of TRON Coaster construction. We popped by Tomorrowland this afternoon to grab more TRON construction photos and noticed that the second section of the outdoor canopy is NOW completely covered.
We can’t believe how much progress has been made.
Its so nice to see the outdoor canopy completed.
As you can see from all of the construction equipment on the outside of the building there is still some work to be done!
We expect that attention will now be turned to the queuing area/ramps up to the attraction.
The picture above shows the multiple levels of the attraction as well as the outdoor portion of the TRON Lightcycle track.
We nabbed these images while on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover which is a great spot to get a bird’s eye view of the work.
Above you can also see the track of the Tomorrowland Speedway which is right next to the TRON Coaster.
Space Mountain sits just on the other side and behind the attraction is Storybook Circus.
As we previously reported, a tunnel has been built into the TRON structure for the Walt Disney World Railroad.
This tunnel will compensate for the fact that the site of the TRON Coaster sits overtop what used to be the old railroad tracks.
New tracks are being laid down as part of the project and the Railroad will reopen once coaster construction is finished.
Disney has yet to announce an official opening date for the opening of TRON.
However, this is a story that we continue to follow closely and we’ll let you know!
In the meantime, we’ll continue to visit the parks weekly and will keep you updated on the progress.
These images are great at showing you just how massive the TRON structure is!
It takes up a HUGE portion of the Tomorrowland Skyline. You can also see Space Mountain right next to it.
Disney also needs to turn its attention to the landscaping around the attraction.
We can wait to see what sort of flora and fauna they use to enhance the futuristic feel.
The canopy construction was a huge portion of the project with workers scaling the giant outdoor canopies to lay the roof for months now.
Its so exciting to finally see that process at an end.
Once completed, the canopy will be lit up to give guests soaring on the track underneath the feeling that you are flying through cyberspace.
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for more Walt Disney World and updates. We’ll be coming to you LIVE from the theme parks each and every week.
