National Geographic Puts Will Smith Series on Hold
We reported earlier this year that Will Smith would be the star of a new National Geographic series called Pole to Pole. According to a recent piece in Bloomberg, Nat Geo is putting the breaks on the project after Will Smith slapped comedian and Oscar presenter Christ Rock during this year’s Academy Awards.
The series was supposed to take Will Smith on an epic journey from the bottom of the earth to the top covering 26,000 miles from the South Pole to the North Pole. Recorded over 100 days, the series would have documented Smith’s journey across all of Earth’s biomes from polar ice to savannah and swamp.
The Bloomberg report said that the series was supposed to start shooting in three weeks but has been pushed back until at least this Fall.
This isn’t the only project of Smith’s that has been shelved since his Oscar moment. Netflix apparently also put a hold on Fast and Loose a series that Smith was expected to star in.
