Walt Disney World Wait Times for the Second Week of April 2022
In the previous Walt Disney World wait times article, most park attractions decreased!
So, we’re still awaiting the impact of Spring Break, which I’m expecting as a combination with Easter this upcoming weekend.

As such, I tentatively project reasonable wait times this week. I may look like an idiot in like three sentences. You gotta read that, right?!
Here are the Walt Disney World wait times for the second week of April 2022.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
As usual, everything begins and ends with Avatar Flight of Passage, the attraction that determines overall wait times at Animal Kingdom.
When this ride’s lines go up, it creates a ripple effect on the other stuff at the park.
Conversely, when guests wait less here, they tend to witness shorter lines almost everywhere else as well.
How was this week? Well, Avatar Flight of Passage guests waited an average of 100 minutes for the attraction. That’s a decrease of four minutes from last time.
How was the rest of Animal Kingdom? Let’s take a look:
- Na’vi River Journey – 75 minutes, no change
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 58 minutes, down 22
- Kali River Rapids – 49 minutes, down 6
- DINOSAUR – 35 minutes, no change
- TriceraTop Spin – 20 minutes, down 4
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 15 minutes, down 1

So, that’s terrific news all around. The average Animal Kingdom attraction involved a wait of 49 minutes, an eight-minute drop from last time.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Our dearest friends spent a couple of days at Hollywood Studios last week. They…said some swears.
Disney fans who remember the good ole days of….2018 cannot get used to the seemingly overnight change at this park. It’s now THE place to go in Orlando.
To wit, six attractions required a wait of at least an hour last time. Four of them topped 90 minutes, which is…too much.

How were the crowds during the past week? We’ll start with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which averaged a wait of…180 minutes. Oh no.
That’s our forward momentum coming to a screeching halt. The Star Wars ride increased by 40 minutes from last time. Uh oh.

So, how was the ripple effect everywhere else at Hollywood Studios?
Here are the average wait times:
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 123 minutes, up 3
- Slinky Dog Dash – 121 minutes, up 5
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 101 minutes, up 9
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 88 minutes, down 10
- Toy Story Mania! – 73 minutes, up 2
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 69 minutes, up 21
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 65 minutes, down 11
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! – 30 minutes, down 6
- Red Carpet Dreams – 29 minutes, down 5
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 20 minutes, up 5
- Celebrity Spotlight – 18 minutes, up 2
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 12 minutes, no change
Okay, that’s a mixed bag overall. The Alien Swirling Saucers number is eye-popping, though. I’m trying to remember if I’ve ever noticed it with a wait over an hour.
Meanwhile, the average Hollywood Studios attraction required a 62-minute wait, up five minutes from last time.
Overall, those two parks are slightly down from last week…but I totally understand why our buddies were ticked about Hollywood Studios.
EPCOT
Walt Disney World’s hidden gem has experienced larger crowds than usual lately. I find that gratifying but also stress-inducing.
In a perfect world, tourists would spend the most time at EPCOT, but the crowds would never increase. Yes, I know that’s impossible, but I’m a fanatic.
Let me want what I want, no matter how unreasonable it is!
Anyway, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure flip flops with Frozen Ever After as it retakes first place.
This time, Ratatouille came with a wait of 93 minutes, up five minutes from last time.
Meanwhile, the other alpha at the park, Frozen Ever After, averaged an 85-minute wait, a 13-minute drop week over week. We’ll take that!
Here are the other EPCOT wait times for the past week:
- Test Track – 66 minutes, down 5 minutes
- Soarin’ Around the World – 45 minutes, down 1
- Mission: SPACE – 41 minutes, up 8
- Spaceship Earth – 31 minutes, no change
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 19 minutes, down 9
- Royal Sommerhus – 18 minutes, down 4
- Living with the Land – 17 minutes, down 12
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – 16 minutes, down 5
- Turtle Talk with Crush – 15 minutes, no change
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 12 minutes, down 7
EPCOT attractions averaged a 37-minute wait, a drop of three minutes from last time. Overall, Hollywood Studios seems to be a huge outlier.
Magic Kingdom
Of course, Magic Kingdom could change all that. It’s entirely possible that Walt Disney World’s two most popular parks siphoned most of the traffic this week.

- Peter Pan’s Flight – 80 minutes, up 3
- Splash Mountain – 75 minutes, down 3

- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 52 minutes, down 3
- Astro Orbiter – 50 minutes, up 1
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – 48 minutes, no change
- Pirates of the Caribbean – 44 minutes, down 6
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – 43 minutes, down 3
- The Barnstormer – 42 minutes, no change
- It’s a Small World – 41 minutes, down 4
- Tomorrowland Speedway – 39 minutes, up 4
- Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid – 38 minutes, down 1
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant – 37 minutes, down 1
- Princess Fairytale Hall – 36 minutes, up 2
- Mad Tea Party – 24 minutes, down 1

Overall, Magic Kingdom attractions averaged a wait of 42 minutes, the same as last week.
So, we had three parks at or below last week’s levels. But then, we had Hollywood Studios selling out like it was game seven of the playoffs.
