BREAKING NEWS: Could Regular Meet and Greets Be Coming Back To the Theme Parks?
There’s some excitement brewing over at The Most Magical Place on Earth this evening. We’ve heard various rumors that Disney theme parks are getting close to returning to traditional meet and greets rather than the current socially distanced ones and it looks like Disney could be announcing this exciting change in policy as early as tomorrow!
Disney took to their official Instagram account to share this not-so-cryptic message with us:

As you can see from the video above, the “social distancing” rope is being removed around Mickey who gleefully approaches the camera. The caption simply reads, “The moment we’ve been waiting for…”
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that since the parks reopened after the pandemic, things like Character Meet and Greets, which are an integral part of the theme park experience have been altered to meet social distancing requirements.
Initially, these meet and greets did not come back and spontaneous character cavalcades were introduced which still gave guests an opportunity to see the characters. Another solution was to have characters appear in slightly distanced places where guests could see and interact with them from afar.
Then most recently, characters once again began meeting guests but their usual meet and greet areas were roped off. That meant that guests could interact, grab socially distanced selfies but couldn’t actually get close to the characters.
Now it looks like Disney is finally gearing up to make the announcement that the ropes are coming down and guests can once again mingle with the characters which really would be a return to a beloved tradition that many miss from the pre-pandemic days.
We love the thought that we could once again go back to wrapping our arms around the Fab Five or sharing a hug with our favorite princesses! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
