Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Disney Cruise Line
Any parent with young girls is probably familiar with Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Prior to COVID, Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, and Aulani all had versions of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Currently Disneyland and Walt Disney World boutiques have not returned disappointing young princesses.
We recently tried the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on the Disney Magic and wanted to share our experience. Prior to COVID we have taken our daughter to the Walt Disney World version 5-6 times so we were familiar with the process.
Basics
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is an experience that provides children ages 3-12 with a makeover experience. There are options for both boys and girls. Children can choose to be styled as a princess or a knight or a sea captain, unique to Disney Cruise Line.
The experience is available on all 4 Disney Cruise ships and has just been announced will also be on the brand new Disney Wish.
Reservation Process
Reservations for Bibbidi Bobbidi are difficult. It is a popular experience and with COVID the reservation slots are more limited. As a first-time cruiser, we were able to make reservations 75 days prior to travel. Silver, Gold, and Platinum cruisers are able to book at an earlier date.
Since we were first time cruisers the only reservation I could get was on the Castaway Cay day. I went ahead and booked it but watched the app and was able to find better times closer to travel dates as people cancelled their reservations.
If you aren’t able to get a reservation, my tip would be to keep checking. Oftentimes people will cancel reservations. We ended up scoring two reservations on the same day as the Royal Court Tea with this strategy.
Pricing
Disney Cruise Line has various packages available at different price levels. The first package, the Carriage, package is $99.95. It includes hairstyling, makeup, face gems, nail polish, a sash, cinch sack, and a t-shirt.
The Castle package is $199.95 and includes the above plus a princess gown and coordinating accessories.
The Frozen package is $179.95 and includes the carriage package with an Anna/Elsa gown, snowflake accessories, and an Olaf Plush.
The most expensive options are $450 and $495. The Princess Signature package includes the Carriage package and an upgraded gown, tiara box, garment bag, and satin hanger.
The Royal Sea package is $495 and includes 2-3 transformations throughout their cruise. They also receive a rolling trunk, boutique picture frame, glass slipper necklace, and glass slippers.
Boys may be interested in the Royal Knight package for $79.95 that includes hairstyling, a sword, shield, and knight costume. The Sea Captain package is $119.95 that includes hairstyling, captain Minnie or Mickey plush, and a captain’s costume.
The Experience
We purchased the Carriage package for both of our daughters. The process took about 45 minutes per child. Once you arrive you select the package. Depending on the package, your child would then try on the included costume. We brought our own costume that we purchased at ShopDisney for a cheaper than on board.
You are also given the option to purchase shoes. The shoes were $25 and we were able to use our DVC discount on the shoes only which brought them to about $23. The shoes light up and are either gold or silver.
Once you select these items, a Fairy Godmother directs your child to her makeover chair. There are plush couches available for parents to take pictures and view the experience. All of the fairy godmothers were wonderful. Both times we were the only child in the salon which likely is a COVID protocol at this time. Children under 5 who are unvaccinated are still required to wear masks in the salon.
Impressions
We had a magical experience. All of the Fairy Godmother crew members were excellent. They were attentive, kind, and spent individual time with each child. Although the experience can be pricey if you have multiple children, it is totally worth it. We would do it again in a heartbeat. The Cruise Line experience was also less hectic than the parks as it was not as crowded. The Magic only had four salon chairs so even at high capacity, it would not feel crowded. I highly recommend the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience on Disney Cruise Line.
