Celebrate This Year’s Oscar Nominees With These Noteworthy Disney Films
With the Oscars happening on ABC on Sunday night, we thought we’d prepare you for the festivities by sharing some Disney-related films that you may want to brush up on staring this year’s nominees.

Will Smith – Aladdin
Smith, who earned a Best Actor nomination for his role in King Richard but the actor is also no stranger to Disney projects. Smith participated in Disneyland’s 35th Anniversary (1990) and starred in Enemy of the State (1998) for Touchstone Pictures. For National Geographic on Disney+, he’s currently traveling the world from Pole to Pole. But perhaps his most memorable Disney role was that of Genie in the live-action Aladdin (2019).
Benedict Cumberbatch – Doctor Strange
Though Cumberbatch has earn critical acclaim for his role in The Power of the Dog, Marvel fans know and love him as the one and only Doctor Strange. Most recently he was seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home along with Avengers: Endgame and is getting his own Doctor Strange sequel in the upcoming Multiverse of Madness.
Jessica Chastain – The Help
People can’t stop talking about Jessica Chastain’s incredible transformation in The Eyes of Tammy Faye but she also earned her first Oscar nomination for playing Celia Foote in the 2011 hit film The Help. But, that isn’t the first time she’s work with Disney. You can also see her cast as Merida in the Disney Dream Portrait Series where she’s straddling a horse.
Penélope Cruz –Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Penelope Cruz is the talk of Hollywood for her role in Parallel Mothers but Jack Sparrow fans may remember Cruz in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Did you that she also voiced the role of Juarez (the guinea pig) in the move G-Force. She was, like Chastain, also the face of a Disney Princes sin the portrait series with her portrayal of Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Andrew Garfield – No Way Home
Andrew Garfield has earned an Oscar nod for a film that is directed by another regular Disney contributed. He is the lead in Tick, Tick…Boom! which was directed by none other than Lin-Manuel Miranda! He also ended up taking part in one of the best kept secrets in Marvel history with his cameo on as Peter Park in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Denzel Washington – Remember the Titans
Denzel Washington is known for his inspirational but serious roles like this year’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, but Disney fans also love him for his role as Herman Boone in the classic film Remember the Titans.
Kristen Stewart – The Thirteenth Year
Kristen Stewart has left her Twilight year’s behind with her turn as Princess Diana in Spencer. But did you know that back when Stewart was a young teen she had a small role in Disney film The Thirteenth Year?
Nicole Kidman – Nine Perfect Strangers
Nicole Kidman may be nominated for her role in Being the Ricardos but if you haven’t seen her in Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers thank you have to add that to your must-watch list.
Javier Bardem – Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Javier Bardem is nominated for his role in The Good Boss but he also stars as the almost unrecognizable Captain Salazar in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. In the film his undead character attempts to undermine Jack Sparrow.

Olivia Coleman – Ron’s Gone Wrong
We’ll end our list with English actress Oliva Coleman who is up for Best Actress for The Lost Daughter. Coleman actually won her first Oscar for the film The Favourite from Fox Searchlight!. She also voiced the role of Donke in Ron’s Gone Wrong which is no streaming on Disney+ and reportedly has a role in an as yet undisclosed Marvel project.
