Walt Disney World Wait Times for Third Week of March 2022
Do you know what’s annoying about Spring Break? It seems to last for six weeks.
Last time, I indicated that Spring Break would start soon.
What I didn’t know at the time was that some parts of North America were already on Spring Break.
Also, people are on Spring Break this week…and next week…and so forth. It’s exhausting.
How will the tiered holiday break impact the parks? We’ll examine this effect in the latest Walt Disney World wait times for the third week of March 2022.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We can lead this week’s discussion with some good news. First, Avatar Flight of Passage actually dropped from last week!
Yes, for the past seven days, the ride averaged a wait of 110 minutes, down 15 minutes from last time.
Generally, when Avatar Flight of Passage drops, almost everything else at EPCOT does as well, and Magic Kingdom sometimes follows that pattern, too.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Here are the other averages at Animal Kingdom:
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 75 minutes, up 5
- Na’vi River Journey – 70 minutes, down 3
- Kali River Rapids – 42 minutes, up 12
- DINOSAUR – 33 minutes, down 6
- TriceraTop Spin – 22 minutes, up 2
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 14 minutes, down 1
The one attraction that requires an explanation is Kali River Rapids, although it’s something we’ve covered previously.
This attraction’s wait time fluctuates some based on the weather. For example, the temperatures increased in Florida. So, the line time did as well.
Overall, the average Animal Kingdom attraction was 52 minutes, down two minutes from last time.
Notably, the average time would have increased if not for Avatar Flight of Passage’s drop. So, the park’s overall behavior was slightly atypical.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The downward trend continues at a different park. In fact, I’d go so far as to describe this one as great news.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance finally fell back to 151 minutes. That’s a drop of 44 minutes from last time.
As I’ve stated previously, a wait of two-and-a-half hours is about the most you should consider for this one. Frankly, even that length is a bit much to me.
So, we finally had a tolerable wait for Disney’s best current ride.
Here’s the rest of Hollywood Studios:
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 130 minutes, down 20
- Slinky Dog Dash – 123 minutes, down 7
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 98 minutes, no change
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 88 minutes, down 11
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 82 minutes, up 2
- Toy Story Mania! – 80 minutes, no change
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 50 minutes, down 2
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! – 35 minutes, down 6
- Red Carpet Dreams – 28 minutes, down 3
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 19 minutes, up 4
- Celebrity Spotlight – 15 minutes, down 2
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change
The average Hollywood Studios attraction came with a wait of 60 minutes, down 15 minutes from last time.
Hollywood Studios had kind of reached a point of theoretical limits on wait times. So, I’m unsurprised that it fell back some.
Still, you should expect it to rise gradually over the next few weeks, maxing out Easter Week. Then, it’ll drop some before growing again during Memorial Day.
EPCOT
The top two rides at EPCOT continue to jostle for the dubious distinction of having the longest wait at the park.
This time, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure “won” with an average wait of 112 minutes, down six minutes from last time.
Meanwhile, Frozen Ever After fell from 101 minutes to 99 minutes. So, the trend at EPCOT is apparently a minimal drop week-over-week.
Here’s the rest of the data to confirm:
- Test Track – 80 minutes, down 5
- Soarin’ Around the World – 48 minutes, down 8
- Mission: SPACE – 39 minutes, down 11
- Spaceship Earth – 28 minutes, down 2
- Living with the Land – 26 minutes, down 1
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 24 minutes, down 4
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – 18 minutes, down 1
- Royal Sommerhus – 16 minutes, up 10
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 14 minutes, down 2
- Turtle Talk with Crush – 11 minutes, up 1
Overall, EPCOT attractions averaged a 43-minute wait, down seven minutes from last time.
Please remember that we had a high reading last week. Sometimes, weird things happen across a park that cause a kind of Murphy’s Law.
I’m unsure whether that’s what we witnessed here, or attendance was legitimately up a significant amount for that timeframe.
Magic Kingdom
We’re three for three on park behavior. Do you think Magic Kingdom will ruin our streak? Let’s find out.
Here are the park’s wait times for the past week:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – 104 minutes, down 16
- Jungle Cruise – 92 minutes, down 3
- Peter Pan’s Flight – 76 minutes, down 9
- Splash Mountain – 66 minutes, down 14
- Space Mountain – 65 minutes, down 13
- Haunted Mansion — 63 minutes, no change
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 60 minutes, down 5
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – 58 minutes, up 3
- Astro Orbiter – 50 minutes, down 3
- Pirates of the Caribbean – 50 minutes, down 5
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – 48 minutes, up 2
- It’s a Small World – 45 minutes, no change
- The Barnstormer – 40 minutes, up 2
- Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid – 40 minutes, down 3
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant – 36 minutes, down 1
- Magic Carpets of Aladdin – 36 minutes, down 6
- Tomorrowland Speedway – 36 minutes, no change
- Princess Fairytale Hall – 35 minutes, no change
- Mad Tea Party – 30 minutes, up 2
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – 26 minutes, up 2
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel – 24 minutes, up 2
- Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor – 22 minutes, down 2
- Country Bear Jamboree – 14 minutes, no change
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic – 14 minutes, down 4
- Town Square Theater – 11 minutes, up 1
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 5 minutes, no change
Overall, Magic Kingdom attractions came with an average wait of 42 minutes, down 1 minute from last time.
Ergo, wait times shrank at all four Walt Disney World gates over the past week. So, if there was any Spring Break effect, it was a positive one!
