Employees of the Walt Disney Company Walk Out of Corporate Locations
Today, employees of The Walt Disney Company who call their Burbank, California office home, staged a walk out in protest of the company’s handling of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill that was introduced in Florida. Protestors were also held outside Walt Disney World in Florida.
Steve Desaulniers (@steve_desaul) posted the following clip on Twitter showing The Walt Disney Company employees cheering and holding signs as they walk out of the company’s headquarters in California:

The walk out was originally planned by employees of the company a few weeks ago. Knowing that the walk out would be happening today, The Walt Disney Company released the following statement this morning:
To ALL who come to this happy place, welcome. Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products is committed to creating experiences that support family values for every family, and will not stand for discrimination in any form. We oppose any legislation that infringes on basic human rights, and stand in solidarity and support our LGBTQIA+ cast, crew, guests, and fans who make their voices heard today and every day.
Amanda Dukes (@AmandaDukesWESH) also reported on Twitter that one one of today’s protestors called the statement that was released by Disney today, a “partial victory.”

In addition to The Walt Disney Company releasing a statement in support of the LGBTQIA+, so did Disney+ and ESPN among other entitles of the conglomerate.
We’ll continue to partner with organizations that support the LGBTQIA+ community, be accountable where we fall short of expectations, and never stop telling stories about LGBTQIA+ athletes, like the ones that we’ll be sharing in this thread.
