Live Performance of ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ Happening During Oscars
Here’s some awesome news for all you Encanto and Lin-Manuel Miranda fans! Though the hit song from the film “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” won’t be up for an Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards, ABC just revealed that the song (which was a viral sensation and rose to the top of the Billboard music charts) will be performed during the evet which will take place on March 27th.
When it came time to submit songs for Awards consideration, Disney went with ‘Dos Oruguitas’ from the film which is a moving, poignant number. It is up for Best Original Song. That meant that Disney was unable to nominate “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” despite the runaway success of the film.
We’re delighted as Comicbook.com says in a recent post that the song will still se it’s time in the spotlight at this year’s ceremony. First mention of the inclusion of the song in this year’s ceremony can be seen in a new ad. You can check it out below:

What remains a mystery is who will be performing the song at the Oscars but hopefully a few of the incredible cast members from the film have been invited a long to perform. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is an ensemble number with most of the cast involved.
For those unfamiliar, Encanto tells the story of the magical Madrigal family from Colombia. Each member of the family possesses a magical talent except for Mirabel. This leads her to question her place, the family and her legacy. The film is directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard. Charise Castro Smith is co-director. Bush and Castro Smith wrote the screenplay and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda helped come up with the story for Encanto along with writing the music for the film.
Encanto stars Stephanie Beatriz, Maria Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Jessica Darrow, Diane Guerrero, Angie Cepeda, Wilmer Valderrama, Carolina Gaitan, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, and Ravi Cabot-Conyers.
Don’t miss Disney’s Encanto on Disney+ and to tune into the Academy Awards on March 27th.
