Walt Disney World Wait Times for First Week of March 2022
Last week, Disney switched some of its popular attractions from Lightning Lane to Genie+.
We’re talking about heavyweights like Frozen Ever After and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
I said at the time that these changes would have ripple effects on park crowds for a while. But, unfortunately, we only witnessed a taste of it last week.
However, we’re starting to see more with the latest Walt Disney World wait times for the first week of March 2022.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We’ll set the tone as usual by discussing Avatar Flight of Passage. This ride has turned into the only Lightning Lane attraction at Animal Kingdom.
This past week reflects the first full week that’s been the case. For that timeframe, Flight of Passage averaged a 95-minute wait, down 18 minutes from last time.
So, that’s a good first sign. Here are the other average wait times at Animal Kingdom last week:
- Na’vi River Journey – 75 minutes, down 5
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 50 minutes, down 9
- Kali River Rapids – 42 minutes, up 2
- DINOSAUR – 36 minutes, down 13
- TriceraTop Spin – 15 minutes, down 9
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 13 minutes, down 2
Overall, the average Animal Kingdom attraction required a wait of 45 minutes, down 9 minutes from last week.
We’re off to a great start!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Alas, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance remains problematic at Hollywood Studios.
For whatever reason, this version of the ride breaks down more often than the one at Disneyland Park. Also, the difference in demand is massive.
So, the Happiest Place on Earth averaged a wait of 80-85 minutes for Rise of the Resistance. Meanwhile, at Hollywood Studios, it was just 165 minutes, up 15 minutes from last time.
Disney really needs to figure out ways to reduce the wait time here.
Two hours and 45 minutes is just way too much for any attraction, even one as excellent as Rise of the Resistance.
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 125 minutes, down
- Slinky Dog Dash – 115 minutes, down 13
- Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run – 78 minutes, down 4
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 75 minutes, down 15
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 72 minutes, down 28
- Toy Story Mania! – 71 minutes, down 14
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 45 minutes, down 5
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – 33 minutes, down 5
- Mickey and Minnie at Red Carpet Dreams – 25 minutes, down 5
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 20 minutes, no change
- Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight – 17 minutes, down 3
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 11 minutes, down 2
The average wait time for Hollywood Studios attractions was 56 minutes, down eight minutes from last time.
So, we do have some positive trending here.
Also, please keep watching for an upcoming article about which Hollywood Studios attractions I believe are worth their waits.
EPCOT
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Frozen Ever After remain the two rides that skew the data at EPCOT.
The two have flip-flopped for the title of the longest wait at the park recently. Now, Frozen Ever After has switched to Disney Genie+. Did that help any?
Meh. The average wait dropped from 105 to 101 minutes. So, we’re talking about a modest change rather than a substantial one thus far.
As for Ratatouille, it was at 86 minutes, down 17 minutes from last time. For a ride that’s less than six months old, a sub-90-minute wait is really good.
Here are the other attractions at EPCOT:
- Test Track – 65 minutes, down 7
- Soarin’ Around the World – 48 minutes, down 2
- Mission: SPACE – 35 minutes, up 5
- Living with the Land – 30 minutes, up 2
- Spaceship Earth – 27 minutes, down 7
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 24 minutes, down 5
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 16 minutes, down 5
- Royal Sommerhus with Anna & Elsa – 16 minutes, down 7
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – 15 minutes, down 3
- Turtle Talk with Crush – 13 minutes, down 6
The average EPCOT attraction came with a wait of 37 minutes, down six minutes from last time.
Disney’s CFO has hinted that character greeting interactions will change soon. So, the Anna & Elsa lines may grow longer soon.
Of course, that’s true of all the character greetings we’re tracking.
Magic Kingdom
Overall, the parks have witnessed a slight decrease in crowds and, thereby, wait times over the past week.

So, coincidentally or not, wait times went down on average at all four parks. And we’re always happy when that happens, aren’t we?
