Idina Menzel Responds to Viral Video of Ukrainian Girl Singing ‘Let it Go.’
As the stories from the now war-torn Ukraine continue to come in, there are glimpses of simple yet powerful moments that stay with us. A perfect example is the moving viral video of a Ukrainian girl singing “Let It Go” from a bomb shelter in the Kyiv.
The little girl was captured on video singing the tune from Frozen. The clip drew the attention of Menzel, you took time to tweet her thoughts on March 7th.
The Tony-winning “Wicked” singer-actress, 50, lovingly wrote, “We see you. We really, really see you. 💙💛.” For those unfamiliar, the blue and yellow heart emojis embody the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

Let it Go was one of those songs that quickly took on a life of its own becoming popular the world over and scoring an Oscar in 2014 for Best Original Song.

Due to its popularity, Disney released a collection of the song being sung in 42 different languages. This included both Ukrainian and Russian versions.

According to a piece in the New York Post the little girl in the video has been identified as Amelia. The video was first posted on Facebook last Thursday by Marta Smekhova. “From the first word in the [bomb shelter] came complete silence… everyone put their business aside and listen[ed] to a song by this girl who was just beaming light… even men couldn’t hold back the tears,” Smekhova posted.
