Disney Conservation Fund Gives Conservation Legacy Award to Joe Rohde
Retired Walt Disney World Imagineer Joe Rohde was announced this week as the recipient of one of the first ever Conservation Legacy Awards. This distinction was given by the Disney Conservation Fund. Rohde, a former Disney Imagineer who played an integral role in the creation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom was being recognized for going above and beyond to support wildlife and nature conservation in his work.
His unique conservation efforts through inspiration and engagement and his pinitol role on the Animal Kingdom Advisory Board ultimate led to the creation of the Disney Conservation Animal Fund.

After an Imagineering career that has spanned four decades, Rohde officially retired on January 4, 2021. Since leaving the company, Rohde has set his sights on the final frontier working with Virgin Galactic on their space program.
His career with Disney began when he signed on as a model designer when EPCOT was being developed back in 1982. His contributions can be seen in Disney’s Animal Kingdom including Pandora-The World of Avata,r Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii and so much more!
