Your Guide To Locations Aboard Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
Throughout the course of the day, we here at MickeyBlog have been giving our readers are closer look at the Galactic Starcruiser which is prepping for its first voyage on March 1, 2022. We’ve show you the food, the merch, the characters and now we want to take a bit of time to talk to you about some of the incredible locations you’ll discover while on the Halcyon for your 2-night fully immersive experience.
Welcome Aboard
Your experience begins when you arrive at the terminal located near Disney’s Holllywood Studios. On the outside, it make look like a non-descript bunk but the minute you set foot inside the Launch Pod you’ll find yourself hurtling toward the sky through a viewport located in the ceiling.
Once the doors open, crew members are on hand to greet you in the Halcyon’s main atrium. This is the ship’s central gathering space.
Once onboard, Captain Riyola Keevan welcomes you to the ship from the muster. The atrium is a fantastic place to gather to mee friends both old and new, to participate in games and take part in events.
As this fully immersive experience unfolds, you’ll find yourself embarking on missions in areas of the ship that would normally be forbidden. This could be places like the gritty Engineering Room.
Even those that opt to take a more passive role will find intriguing details around every corner. For example, artwork hanging in the Mezzanine of the Atrium is titled “The Unified Galaxy” depicting Core Worlds all the way out to the edges of wild space. According to Halcyon lore, the piece was commissioned by Leia Organa and presented as a gift to the Halcyon when she and her husband Han Solo, honeymooned aboard the vessel after the battle of Endor.
Also be on the lookout for the Hyperspace Compass on display in the Atrium which honors the legacy of Chandrila Star Line founder Shug Drabor.
Just across the way, you’ll also find a display case at the entrance to the Sublight Lounge that holds a bottle of Chandrilan Champagne from the same vintage year as the ship’s maiden voyage 275 years ago. The story goes that the bottle refused to shatter at the ship’s christening so not it is preserved as a symbol of good fortune.
The Possibilities are as Infinite as the Universe
Passengers become a part of their own Star Wars story the minute they board the ship. This means that there are naturally interactive elements sprinkled throughout the starcruiser. For this reason tactile design elements are just as important as the décor. When you push a button you should naturally expect something to happen.
A fantastic example given by Dan Brookwell, Production Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering is that the Bridge is made up of a bunch of different stations. Each person at each station has a different responsibility. What you do has an overall impact on the ship. On your first day aboard, you’ll even attend an exploratory session to find out a bit more about what happens in the control room.
One of the locations we’ve spoken the most about is the Lightsaber Training Pod which is where passengers visit to learn the ancient art of wielding a lightsaber.
But these are the only noteworthy locations you’ll encounter during your visit. Here’s a rundown of places you’ll want to explore:
Let the Stars Be Your Guide
LET THE STARS BE YOUR GUIDE
Brig – a holding area installed while the Empire controlled the ship
Cabins – passengers’ rooms for the two-night voyage, featuring views out to space
Cargo Hold – the location for storage of goods and ship supplies (normally off-limits)
The Chandrila Collection – the place to purchase the finest apparel, accessories, and other gifts from around the galaxy
Climate Simulator – an open-air onboard location that mimics outdoor conditions of the ship’s destination—which, for this voyage, means Batuu
Crown of Corellia Dining Room – the ship’s supper club, offering a menu of fine dining from across the galaxy and live entertainment from musical superstar Gaya
Engineering Room – the control center for the inner workings of the ship
Sublight Lounge – the perfect place for a nice drink, a game of sabacc… or possibly a clandestine meeting
Transport Shuttle – a local shuttle from Batuu providing convenient and comfortable conveyance for planet-side excursions from the starcruiser to Docking Bay 3 in Black Spire Outpost
Need Help Finding Your Way Around?
While onboard the Halcyon you can access a map of the ship at any of the consoles in the Atrium and on multiple decks.
We also recommend that you have the Play Disney Parks app installed on your phone to access the Star Wars: Datapad’s Map function. This function provides a layout of the starcruiser as well as Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.
