No More Masks For the Fully Vaccinated at Magic Kingdom
MickeyBlog is coming to you LIVE! from the Magic Kingdom on what is definitely a momentous occassion. If you were following along with us earlier this week, you’ll know that as of today, vaccinated individuals visiting the theme parks are no longer required to wear masks either indoors or outdoors at Walt Disney World.
The only exception to this rule is enclosed transportation which includes transportation, including buses, monorail and Skyliner. You can check out the table below, provided by Disney, the outlines the current mask rules at the theme parks.
The new rules went into effect this morning (February 17th.) Prior to this morning, vaccinated guests were still required to wear face masks in indoor areas. This is no longer required.
It should be noted that non-vaccinated individuals are still required to wear masks in indoor locations. So how is this looking at the theme parks this morning!?
Well, we started our morning off at Disney’s Contemporary Resort where some guests and cast members were opting not to wear masks while others where still sticking to them.
For those wondering, at least this morning, hand sanitizing stations are still prominently placed.
Here’s the view from the lobby this morning with a few masks still being worn but on the majority guests going without them.
The same applies to cast members.
Over at the Magic Kingdom this morning it was more of the same. Inside Main Street Bakery, mask wearing was no longer enforced with most of those in line opting to go without.
The same goes for across the street at the Emporium.
Again we can see below that some cast members prefer to keep wearing their masks while others have opted to leave them at home!
Speaking of which, guests will still want to have a mask or two in your theme park bag since they are STILL required on Disney transportation. This is particularly important for those staying onsite and using buses, boats, Skyliner or Monorail to get too and from each day.
Next we thought we’d share a look at the new policy in effect some of Magic Kingdom’s attractions!
As you can see, many guests and cast members were opting to go mask-less on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
It was so nice to see things slowly getting back to normal in Tomorrowland.
Most guests seemed to be embracing the changes.
Next we move into Fantasyland to check out “it’s a small world.”
Here you can see people eagerly queuing sans masks.
There was the occasional guest thought that still opted to wear them.
Here are a few groups of visitors going relatively mask free once on the boats.
Its a bustling morning at the theme parks.
Above you can see some families and cast members continuing to wear the masks. I suspect that we’ll see this going forward as many guests just feel more comfortable with them on.
However, it does feel like a different theme park experience this morning.
Local news station Fox35 ran a piece about the mask changes this morning. You can take a look here:
Here’s a video that MickeyBlog took of our first official mask-free day at the Magic Kingdom since the pandemic started!
