Your Guide To Disney’s Hilton Head Resort

If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog, you’ll know that we’ve been exploring many of our favorite Disney Resorts  Next up, we’re leaving the theme parks behind and heading to the sandy shores of Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Nestled on the breathtaking coast of South Carolina Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort features 12 miles of beaches for soaking up the sun, but also countless outdoor activities for the whole family. Most people don’t know that Disney has a property at Hilton Head, but once you see all these awesome details, you’ll be wanting to book your next Disney getaway at this hidden gem!

Theming

This resort is HUGE on island vibes.  Certain to be your home away from home, guests will feel as if you’re part of a friendly island community on the Atlantic Ocean!

Location

For those unfamiliar, Hilton Head is a beautiful island resort located off the southern end of the state of South Carolina.  It is located just 20 miles north of Savannah, Georgia and 95 miles south of Charleston, SC.

Transportation

Guests staying at Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort will enjoy complimentary self-parking.  The property is a 1hour drive away from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and 15 minutes away from Hilton Head Island Airport.  Guests must find their own transportation to and from the airport. 

A Taxi service is available for local transportation.  Shuttles are available to and from Disney’s Beach House.

Food & Beverage

Signals – Quick service by the sea,  Signals is located at Disney’s Beach House, Signals offers sandwiches, salads, treats and beverages. You can even purchase a refillable resort mug and enjoy free refills during your entire stay.  Guests should note that Signals is closed in January and on select dates in February. 

Pools

The Big Dipper and the Little Dipper Swimming Pools – You can zip down the wraparound Water Tower Slide at the Big Dipper, a 72,000 heated pool and spa! Smaller swimmers can delight in the water-spitting frogs and whimsical features at the Little Dipper Pool. 

Beach House Pool – Enjoy a swim at the beach in a heated pool.  Disney’s Beach House Pool is located at Disney’s Beach House about one mile from the heart of the resort!

Recreation

Beach – Guests can head to Hilton Head Island Beach for an awesome assortment of activities that the whole family will love! 

Campfire Activities – Come prepared for storytelling, sing-alongs and good family fun. Make s’mores and enjoy quality time with your family by a wonderful marsh-side campfire.

Activity Programs for Kids and Teens – Kids and teens can enjoy a variety of crafts, games and nature programs along with the chance to meet new friends. 

Movies Under the Oaks – Bring the whole family along to watch some classic Disney movies at our outdoor movie theatre under the stars.

Nature Walks – Explore the natural wonders of Hilton Head Island and the Atlantic Coast with a fun array of nature walks including Beach, Resort and Pinckney Island Wildlife Adventure! 

Bike, Fishing and Equipment Rentals – Guests can visit the recreation office for adult, child, or adult and child tandem bicycles.  Complimentary bike helmets and baskets are available.  The island features hundreds of miles of scenic bike trails including the 1.25 mile path that leads to Disney’s Beach House. . Other equipment rentals include: basketball, bocce ball, pool, putting green, table tennis and shuffleboard. 

Tennis – Play tennis on your choice of over 300 courts on Hilton Head Island. 

Fitness Center – Head to Bend & Stretch’s Workout room which is open 24 hours a day and provides state-of-the-art equipment. 

Live Oak Lodge – Stop by to enjoy downtime amidst the pool table, fireplace and cozy antiques in Big Murggie’s Den, located in the Resort’s main building The Live Oak Lodge.

Shopping

Head to Broad Creek Mercantile where you’ll find a wide range of Disney souvenirs, island essentials, groceries and more! 

The cost of a studio at Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resorts star in the upper $300 and can go up to 100+ a night depending on villa type. It is also a Disney Vacation Club property meaning that Club Members can use their points for a stay here.
