VIDEO: Guests Forced To Walk Through Kilimanjaro Safari After Ride Vehicles Broke Down
There are rides that I don’t mind being on when they break down like Haunted Mansion or Space Mountain which can provide an interesting experience. However, after seeing recent footage that emerged on TikTok, I can honestly say that Kilimanjaro Safaris would not be one of them.
A guest recorded their ride experience from last Friday (February 11th) and let’s just say it was nothing short of WILD! Midway through the trek in the Haramble Wildlife Reserve, there was a 40 minute delay du to a wheel malfunction on one of the vehicles. With the jeep stalled out right near the lion enclosure, the decision was made that guests would need to walk back to base!
Check out TikTok user @purely_katelin first video detailing the experience:

As you can see from these videos Katelin said that there was a lot of waiting around (nearly 40 minutes) with guests not really sure what was happening. They were able to enjoy a Pride Rock-esque view of the lions which thankfully were on the otherside of an invisible moat meaning that they didn’t pose a risk to guests.
According to Katelin’s further descriptions of the ordeal, part of the reason for the lengthy hold up was that some of the safari animals that COULD move freely through the reserve needed to be wrangled so as not to pose a risk to guests on the broken down ride vehicles.
Ultimately, as you can see from these videos, guests were evacuated from Katelin’s ride vehicle as well as several others ahead of them.

Ladders were brought in to help guests disembark from the safari vehicles before cast members led them on a walk back to the entrance.
Katelin, said that they gave each guest involved in the ordeal a Lightning Lane pass for another attraction. However, according to Katelin, there were very small children on the ride with parents struggling to cope to make the trek back on food. This added to the delay in getting everyone back to base.
