Did ‘Andor’ Already Get Renewed for a Second Season?
One of the most anticipated series coming from Lucasfilm is still without a trailer, which leads many to question the rumors that Andor has already been renewed for a second season.
With Disney taking the film industry by storm in 2012, the Lucasfilm acquisition has been one of the clear successes of the companies entering into the modern streaming war.
Follwoing the Disney-led Star Wars trilogy that brought the iconic universe back to cinemas and an expansive slate of films that fleshed out the various corners of the uncharted galaxy, it was a refocusing on streaming that has given fans the beloved The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett.
One of Disney+ most anticipated series gives fans the best of both, as Andor is a streaming exclusive series that will focus on expanding upon the story of Cassian Andor; one of the key members of the Rogue One story that jumpstarted the events of the original trilogy.
With the series still without a trailer, and many fans unsure what to expect outside of a Disney+ Day featurette that gave a small peek into the world being crafted, it was shocking for fans to see reports that Andor has already been renewed for a second season.
The reports come by way of ComicBook.com, which reported an interview in which Andor cast member, Stellan Skarsgard confirmed the second season is set to begin filming soon.
In an interview with his native Swedish publication Dagens Nyheter, Skarsgard stated, “We start with [filming Dune: Part Two] in July. And then in the autumn, it’s time for the second season of the Star Wars series Andor.”
Skarsgard concluded, “I do not know when they will start broadcasting it. It will take some time so that it does not take too long between season one and two.”
It appears as though Lucasfilm is already committed to Andor returning for a second season, and with the close proximity of the scheduled filming dates, they want the series seasons to occur close together.
With no trailer yet for the series, fans don’t know what to expect, with many hoping the studio can reproduce the magic that made The Mandalorian the instant classic it became.
