We’ve spent a lot of time talking about ways to celebrate February 14th with your sweetheart but how about that special BFF!? Don’t worry, Disney+ is brimming with awesome shows that celebrate friendship. So invite your bestie over, pop that popcorn and have a movie night!
Here’s five great titles to get you started and they’re all on Disney+
The Color of Friendship (2000)
This story is based on the true story of author and anti-apartheid activist Piper Dellums. A black teen from California, Piper, played by Shadia Simmons, is shocked when the South African girl her family is hosting Mahree (Lindsey Hahn) turns out to be white.
Though the girls come from two very different cultural backgrounds (with Mahtree living a privileged life in apartheid-era South Africa) and Piper being the daughter of a US Congressman, the teens soon realize that maybe they aren’t so different after all!
This Disney Channel Original Movie is as poignant today as it was 20 years ago!
Monsters University (2013)
Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. “Sully” Sullivan (John Goodman) are polar opposites with Mike focused on his studies and Sully on his social life. However, they have one goal in common- becoming the top scarers in their class. Hijinks ensue and an unlikely friendship is formed.
Wreck-It Ralph (2012)
Ralph (John C. Reilly) is tired of being an arcade came villain and desperately wants to be a hero and gain the respect of his friends. With the help of other misfits including Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) Ralph travels through the video game universe to level-up his reputation!
Holes (2003)
Stanley Yelnats is sent away to juvenile detention camp and while there meets the kid actually responsible for the grim that was pinned on him- Hector Zeroni (Khleo Thomas.) The two find themselves on a mission to escape the detention center and during their multi-day journey across the Texas desert come to realize that a centuries old curse may be responsible for bringing them together.
Luca (2021)
Taking place on the beautiful Italian Rivieria, Luca tells the tale of two sea monsters posing as humans in a seaside village. Luca (voiced by Jacob Tremblay) and Alberto (Jack Dylan Grazer) along with their human pail Guilia (Emma Berman) make the most of their summer including Vespa rides and gelato while trying to mask their true identities.
