Celebrate Year of the Tiger at Animal Kingdom!
This year’s Lunar New Year is gearing up to be a bit more ferocious than usual!
Chinese New Year will ring in the Year of the Tiger on Thursday, and there’s no better way to celebrate than in the presence of Animal Kingdom’s gorgeous streak of tigers!
The Year of the Tiger is set to be a year we all step into our own bravery and confidence- I hope Chinese astrology is accurate on that one! The Chinese view the tiger as the king of all beasts, and Maharajah Jungle Trek’s rich detail and historically-inspired ruins shows just how closely Imagineers study real history in order to properly honor these animals.

Maharajah Jungle Trek is the place to be if you’re hoping to catch the tigers, but its architecture is so detailed that it’s not a place that should be rushed through or overlooked. All around you, you’ll spot colorful ruins that signify the Asian affinity with and respect of tigers and other powerful animals found here.
According to Chinese astrology, anyone born during the Year of the Tiger is sure to be powerful, rebellious, dynamic, adventurous, fiery, impulsive and unpredictable- the perfect kindred spirits to tigers! These majestic animals can be seen from multiple view points along Maharajah Jungle Trek, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled as you walk!
After you exit the Trek, head to Kali River Rapids to check out the tiger-inspired artwork that makes the attraction’s iconic sign so memorable.

The power of the water that flows through Kali is associated with the tigers’ strength, beauty, unpredictability and danger. The more you keep your eyes open, the more you’ll see the representation of the tiger in Animal Kingdom’s Asia, making it the perfect place to celebrate Chinese New Year on February 1!
