Nova Corps Starblaster Being Assembled at EPCOT
Things are looking pretty EPIC over at EPCOT this afternoon. Earlier this week we mentioned that a bonafide Nova Corps Starblaster was being brought to EPCOT in pieces and would be assembled at the entrances to the new Guardians of the Galaxy themed coaster – Cosmic Rewind. Our MickeyBlogger popped by the theme park today and it is so impressive to see the Starblaster in all its splendor!
Though the construction walls are quite high around the pavilion, the Starblaster spans an impressive 51 feet. That means that you can still see it peaking out over the top of the walls.
You may remember this craft from the films. Xandarian pilots take to the skies and these can link together which we saw in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.
This is the first full-scale replica of the Starblaster and it is absolutely amazing.
The ship will have pride-of-place right in the front of the building that will house the new coaster. It was previously the home of Ellen’s Energy Adventure.
Disney has yet to announce an official opening date for the Guardians coaster. However, all if these important touches make us optimistic that we are inching ever closer.
As you can see a crane is in place to hoist some of the pieces together.
It was still very much a work in progress when we dropped by.
However, it certainly adds an air of excitement as you stroll through Future World!
Below you can check out an aerial view of the building that will be the home to Cosmic Rewind.
The rain didn’t seem to put a damper on the work being done.
As you can see from these shots, the front Future World portion of EPCOT is still in a state of flux.
Huge areas remain shuttered to the public.
There will be more dining, shopping and more coming to the World Celebration neighborhood in the future.
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with us and we’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime here are a few more images of the constructions lifts brought in to help with the assembly of the Starblaster.
It’s amazing how realistic it looks.
It definitely has us more excited than ever to experience Cosmic Rewind when it opens!
It’s a momentous occasion as it will be the first coaster at EPCOT!
The ride also promises to be the first of it’s kind in that the ride vehicles will spin as you make your way through the ride so that you never miss a moment of the action.
Oh, and did we mention that you’ll be launching backwards!?
As guests queue for the attraction, there will be an exhibit about Xandar. That’s why its only fitting that a Starblaster would have pride of place.
We hope you’ll continue to follow along with MickeyBlog. We’ll be coming to you LIVE! from the theme parks each and every week!
