Should EPCOT Have a Colombia Pavilion? Josh Gad Thinks So
For many years now there have been rumors swirling that Disney could be looking to add some additional pavilions to the World Showcase in EPCOT We’ve heard numerous stories over the years that possible countries Disney was thinking of adding included Brazil, Australia, Switzerland, Greece and more. However, if a beloved Disney actor has his way it would be the country of Colombia that we’ll be seeing next.
Josh Gad (who voices the role of Olaf in the Frozen film and is reprising his role of LeFou for an upcoming Beauty and the Beast project) took to Twitter over the weekend to profess his family’s love for the movie Encanto and to suggest that Colombia would make a worthy addition to the World Showcase! You can check out his tweet below:
As we watch for the thousandth time, my kids and I decided we want a Columbia attraction at #Epcot with a full #Encanto ride through attraction. @Lin_Manuel @thejaredbush @ByronPHoward and @DisneyParks please make this happen. Sincerely, the Gads. pic.twitter.com/qHE0m8RUIY

As Gad says in his post “As we watch for the thousandth time, my kids and I decided we want a Colombia (SP) attraction at EPCOT with a full Encanto ride through! Though Gad misspelled Colombia in his quote he did quickly amend it to the correct spelling. Grammar errors aside, we here at MickeyBlog can say that this is a sentiment that we are completely on board with.

We spent most of last week talking about the runaway success of Encanto particularly the popularity of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” which surpassed Frozen anthem “Let It Go” as the highest charting Disney songs on Billboard in over two decades! With fans positively taken by the film, the songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and the characters we think Gad just might be on to something!
Though Americans might not know as much about Colombia as they do about countries like Italy and Germany, there’s a lot that would make this country EPCOT worthy. You’ve got the Andes mountains, Colombian Coffee, the city of Cartagena, incredible wildlife, salsa dancing and a rich literary history thanks to writers like Gabriel Garcia Marquez. In addition over 1.2 million citizens of Colombian descent are thought to currently live in the US!
With the film Encanto only growing in popularity, Disney may be looking for a way to capitalize on the film’s fandom by giving it its own theme park ride. Rumors are still swirling that Disney was hoping to do something similar with Coco at the Mexico Pavilion.
I guess only time will tell whether Disney has additional plans to develop the World Showcase further by introducing additional countries. You can bet this is a story that we’ll be following closely. Josh Gad, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Disney – make it happen!
