Live-Action Version of Aristocats is in Early Stages

Disney made several live-action versions of their classic animated films over the past several years. Now, a live-action version of Disney’s The Aristocats is in early development stages.

The Writers and Producers

Will Gluck and Keith Bunin will write the script for The Aristocats. Also, Gluck will produce the film through Olive Bridge Entertainment.

Will Gluck recently directed Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway for Sony, so he is familiar with family-friendly genres. Also, Keith Bunin has ties with Disney/Pixar since he wrote Onward.

A Beloved Classic, Remade

Of course, this live-action version of The Artistocats is based on the 1970 animated classic. In the original film, a Parisian cat family learns they will inherit a fortune from their owner, Madame Adelaide Bonfamille.

However, the jealous butler (Edgar Balthazar) kidnaps the felines and abandons them in the country. Then, they must team up with Thomas O’Malley, a charismatic tomcat, to get back home.

Early Stages

As stated earlier, this production is in the very early stages. So, there is not a whole lot of information released about this movie.

For example, we do not know if it will release in the theaters or exclusively on Disney+. However, sources stated that it will have a similar look to the 2019 live-action version of Lady and the Tramp.

A Tale Across Generations

I know many adults loved Disney’s animated classic The Aristocats, and the kittens are still beloved characters, especially Marie! Soon, children will enjoy this film through a new live-action version!
