Disney California Adventure’s Lunar New Year Celebration Has Officially Kicked Off
It is time to celebrate the Year of the Tiger. Disney California Adventure’s Lunar New Year Celebration has officially kicked off and will run until February 13, 2022. You won’t want to miss this joyous tribute to Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean culture with a touch of Disney magic. Guests will be able to enjoy Asian-inspired food and drinks, vibrant décor, keepsake merchandise and exciting entertainment.
During the special festival, which celebrates the journey of the sun and the moon, you can make memories with family and friends and share wishes for good health, luck and prosperity. Here’s a closer look at some of the ways that you can celebrate during your Disneyland Resort visit.
“Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession”
Wait until you see the gorgeous new float that Mulan and Mushu arrive on. This procession includes traditional Chinese drummers and performers bringing cultural artistry and dance to life. The parade will be a vision of red and gold which symbolize good fortune and happiness. The float also features bright bunches of red firecrackers with golden tassels as well as red and gold lanterns that come aglow after dark!
Paradise Garden Bandstand
Head over to the bandstand for daily live performances featuring traditional musical instruments along with Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese folk dancers. The San Francisco-based musical group Melody of China will be on hand to perform their fusion of Chinese folk, classic and contemporary instrumentals.
Character Sightings
At Paradise Gardens Gazebo a whole host of Disney characters are coming out to celebrate the new year including Tigger, Mulan, Mushu, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and the Three Little Pigs. All will be dressed in their festive Lunar New Year finery.
Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon will also be making her official debut at Disneyland Resort during the Lunar New Year celebration. You’ll find her under a forest canopy along the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

Be sure to bring your appetites because during the Lunar New Year festivities Disney California Adventure will be serving up a tantalizing array of Asian-inspired dishes with a twist. Lunar New Year Décor
Be sure to have your cameras at the ready because Disney California Adventure gets a beautiful Lunar New Year makeover each year. You’ll find decorations for good luck, fortune and happiness in brilliant hues of red and gold. There are also banners wishing “Happy New Year featuring Disney characters.
Lucky Wishes Wall
Stroll beneath strings of ornamental lanterns at the Lucky Wishes Wall. Here you can even share your own special wishes of hope, health and happiness. You’ll also find complimentary arts and crafts including coloring a “Dragon’s Pearl” and learning Chinese calligraphy with local artisans.
Lunar New Year Merchandise
Bring a bit of spending money as you’ll definitely want to pick up some of the New Year mementos available while supplies last. Highlights include Mickey Mouse plush, red and gold spirit jersey, t-shirts, tumblers and more!
Goofy’s Kitchen
Even Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel is getting in on the Lunar New Year fun. Chef Goofy is adding both spicy chicken and pork belly bao buns to the buffet!
Snack Cart – Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa
Be on the lookout for a cart of goodies at Disney’s Grand Californian featuring Mickey Mouse-shaped, tiger-striped sugar cookies, lantern whoopie pies and pretzel sticks!
Lunar New Year Mural- Downtown Disney
If you’re heading to Disneyland’s downtown shopping and dining district be on the lookout for the brand new Lunar New Year mural created by Disney Live Entertainment Associate Art Director Elizabeth Kang who has contributed to a variety of Disney productions and attractions.
Kang was inspired by scenes from traditional “minwha” or “painting of the people” which celebrates the customs and spirit of everyday life in Korea. The piece depicts a celebration and hope for the year ahead.

Pop by LovePop’s new Downtown Disney shop to pick up a specially created Lunar New Year greeting card. Designs include a cherry blossom tree, red lanterns and more!
California Residents – Visit During Lunar New Years and Save!
Disney has a special ticket offer for California residents.
