PHOTOS: Chalk Artists Return to EPCOT Festival of the Arts
Among all of the eclectic tastes and artistic experiences presented during the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, the chalk artists often top the list must-see creators.
Opening earlier today, the chalk artists also offered much needed entertainment or the thousands of people waiting in the enormous line that developed for the coveted Figment Premium Popcorn Bucket, a top merchandise item debuting at this year’s festival.
Throughout the day, a number of chalk artists share their remarkable talents with those who pass by, creating scenic landscapes, portraits and still life.
Situated throughout the walkway that connects the former-Future World to World Showcase, today’s artists also embraced a number of National Geographic destinations.
Earlier this week, National Geographic Expeditions officially opened for booking under the Walt Disney Company. The hundreds of options take travelers on adventures that span all seven continents.
Of course, other artists brought Mickey Mouse, Pluto and a number of other classic Disney pals to life in their work as well.
With an abundance of color that provides not only texture but a depth that almost looks 3-D, the chalk artists always present a unique swin on classic techniques.
Throughout the day’s festivities, many stopped to watch a variety of works progress with many reaching their completion within hours of the festival beginning.
Some of the landscapes appeared to be inspired by one beloved Disney chalk painter, Bert of the heart-warming story, “Mary Poppins.” It would certainly be a jolly holiday to pop right into the Ventian streets featured in one blue-hued creation also celebrating National Geographic.
This year’s festival also challenges guest to discover a number of favorite Disney characters embedded throughout a bit of an artistic scavenger hunt, titled “Chalk Full of Character.”
The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts runs from now until February 21st when the park will then prepare for its next extravaganza, the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival.
