Extras Needed for “Haunted Mansion” Reboot
Despite its working title, “Joyride,” it looks another classic Disney attraction continues its path back to the big screen. Currently, the film is casting hundreds of extras in New Orleans. Many believe “Joyride” to be the remake of “The Haunted Mansion,” which originally debuted in 2003 starring Eddie Murphy.
According to a fall article in the Hollywood Reporter, actress Tiffany Haddish joins Owen Wilson, LaKeith Stanfield and Danny DeVito to lead the cast of the new “Haunted Mansion.” Rosario Dawson also appears on the cast list, according to the article.

With casting currently underway in the “Big Easy,” it appears that this “Haunted Mansion” script might also find itself rooted in stories from New Orleans Square, the area of Disneyland in which the storied attraction rests.
“The production needs hundreds of locals, ‘males and females of all ethnicity and ages,’ to populate various scenes as extras and in background roles. Extras will be paid $161 for a 12-hour day on set. They will also receive a $65 stipend every time the production requires that they take a COVID test. The start date is Jan. 27,” according to an article posted today by Keith Spira of Nola.com.
Casting for the roles is being managed by Alessi Hartigan Casting, who posted that they are casting for a “Major Disney Feature.”
Those interested should register at the firm’s website. Alternatively, those interested can also “email ghostsinfilm@gmail.com with ‘NOLA extra’ in the subject line. Include name, cell phone number, location, current photos (selfies are acceptable) and measurements, including shirt, pant and shoe size,” according to Spira’s article.
With much still left to learn about “Joyride,” extras should be prepared for a creepy adventure on set. According to the Hollywood Reporter, though much of the script remains locked away, the film “follows a mother and her son who come across a mansion that is more than it seems and meet various eccentric characters key to unlocking the spooky mystery.”
Director Justin Simien (“Dear White People” and “Bad Hair”) is set to lead the eerily secret project, which comes right on the heels of another film based on the classic attraction. “Muppets Haunted Mansion” hit Disney+ on October 8th.
