It’s a Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World
Marathon Weekend is nearly upon us Disney friends! That means if you’re a runner that you’re more than likely heading to the Most Magic Place on Earth with your squad. And for those just visiting Disney World on vacation you’ll want to be aware when the races are happening and what disruptions there might be.
Things officially kicked off this morning with several races being held across the next few days including 5K, 10K, half-marathon, two-course challenge and Dopey challenge. We’ll provide you with a schedule below.
This year’s Marathon Weekend is a momentous occasion as not only are we celebrating the return of racing to Walt Disney World in 2022 but also Disney World’s 50th Anniversary!
Participants have really turned out for this weekend of racing. According to the runDisney website, all races both in person and virtual are completely booked!
If you were following along with us here at MickeyBlog yesterday you may have seen a first look at some of the merchandise available for purchase at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
The hours for the Health and Fitness Expo are as follows:
- Thursday, Jan. 6: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Friday, Jan. 7: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Jan. 8: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

- Walt Disney World 5K – This race happened this morning at 5:00 am.
- Walt Disney World 10K – January 7, 2022 at 5:00 am.
- Walt Disney World Half Marathon – January 8, 2022 at 5:00 am.
- Walt Disney World Marathon – January 9, 2022 at 5:00 am.
- Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge – Completing the Half Marathon and Walt Disney World Marathon
- Dopey Challenge – Complete all four weekend races.
Disney has previously advised that while races are underway, guests may experience road closures and traffic restrictions. Most of this will occur January 8 – 9 from 4 am – 9pm.
