Hong Kong Disneyland Closes Again Due To Coronavirus Concerns
Hong Kong Disneyland announced today that they will once again be shuttering the theme park as part of the city’s anti-coronavirus precautions. This is the fourth time that the Disney park has had to close since the start of the pandemic.

As you can see from our screenshot of the Hong Kong Disneyland website below, the closure is in effect from January 7 to January 20, 2022.
According to Variety Disney released a statement. “As required by the government and in line with preventive efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will temporarily close from January 7 to 20. Guests who planned to visit the Park on above dates are advised to visit on another day. HKDL has been in close contact with the relevant government departments and will continue to implement health and safety measures with reference to their guidelines to promote health and safety of our guests and cast members,” management said.
Hong Kong Disneyland has been operating in an abundance of caution throughout the pandemic and currently remains closed every Tuesday and Thursday for cleaning measures. The Hong Kong government has a zero-COVID policy. This includes strict border controls, lengthy quarantine periods for inbound travelers and more. Hong Kong is doing well in its fight against the virus having gone a full month without one local case.
All this changed in recent days with the detection of the omicron variant . Yesterday, Hong Kong officials said that 13 new cases and 26 asymptomatic infections have been reported. Twelve of these are the new Omicron strain. Today this number grew with 34 imported cases, three additional cases linked with an imported case and one local case.

To combat the spread further, the Hong Kong government said that it is taking drastic measures just short of a full lock down. This includes the closure of bars, gyms, entertainment venues, swimming pools and more. There will also be a ban on major events and non-essential gatherings for two weeks.
Those flying to or from Hong Kong may want to pay careful attention to the news as the government will also be restricting flights into the city from eight countries starting Saturday January 8th, 2022 and lasting for two weeks. The countries impacted includes UK, US, Australia, Canada, France, India, Pakistan and the Philippines.
