Steps Disney Cruise Line Is Taking To Keep Guests Safe at Sea
As we enter a new year, and with the holidays over, many of you might be thinking ahead to this year’s vacations! Disney Cruise Line is going from strength to strength this year with a brand new ship, new ports-of-call and more. Also, during these uncertain times, it’s also important to know that Disney is doing its part to keep guests safe while onboard.
This includes enhanced embarkation as well as health and safety protocols. We wanted to start the year off by giving your a recap of what these requirements are.
Let’s dive in:
Disney Cruise Line is reaching out to guests sailing from January 1 – 17, 2022 with a rundown of the following health and safety reminders:
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements
ALL GUESTS 12 AND OVER must be fully vaccination to sail with Disney Cruise Line. Starting on January 13, 2022, this requirement will expand to include ALL GUESTS AGES FIVE AND OVER.
Though it is not required, Disney Cruise Line encourages all who are eligible to get a COVID-19 booster before sailing.
COVID-19 Testing Requirements
Guests who are not vaccinated due to age MUST provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test. Results MUST be taken between 3-days and 24 hours before your sail date. In addition, ALL GUESTS (regardless of age and vaccination status) are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test at the terminal before boarding your cruise shop.
In the event that a guest tests positive for COVID-19, that guest and those sharing the same stateroom (as well as other close contacts) will be denied boarding.
Health Questionnaire and Health Acknowledgement
ALL GUESTS must complete a health questionnaire before arriving at the terminal. You can find the form on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App under “Embarkation Day.” In addition, Disney Cruise Line will email all guests with a link to the questionnaire.
We will also include a link to it here: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/why-cruise-disney/experience-updates/us/.
Crew Member Vaccination and Testing
Disney has advised that ALL Crew Members must be fully vaccination and Disney Cruise Line is providing booster shots to all eligible crew.
In addition, Crew Members are tested for COVID-19 multiple times per week.
Masks
ALL GUESTS ages 2 and up (including those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19) are required to wear face coverings indoors. The ONLY exceptions include when guests are in their staterooms or actively eating or drinking.
In addition, face coverings may be a requirement in ports of call based on the policies of their local governments.
Physical Distancing
Disney Cruise Line has reduced guest capacity aboard the ships along with experiences in order to promote physical distancing. Signs will be placed throughout the ship to remind guests to keep your distance from other guests that are outside of your travel party.
Hand Hygiene
Throughout your Disney Cruise, guests will be asked to wash or sanitize hands regularly. Disney Cruise Line has increased the number of hand-sanitizing stations throughout the ships. Crew will also be providing reminders especially before entering dining locations.
Self Care
It is important for all passengers on a Disney Cruise to take care of your health and the health of those onboard. If you are feeling unwell or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, you should immediately contact the medical center. Appointments to evaluate COVID-19 symptoms at the medical center are free of charge.
Going Ashore
Full vaccinated guests who wish to leave the ship while at a port-of-call can do so on your own. Guests who are vaccinated and wish to disembark the ship with unvaccinated children MUST purchase a Disney Cruise Line Port Adventure for all destinations apart from Disney Castaway Cay.
Disney Cruise Line is also committed to working with local governments at the ports to monitor the public health conditions in each destination.
In the event that Disney must cancel a visit to a port for an upcoming sailing, Disney Cruise Line will look for alternate destinations or spend a day at sea while in route to the next destination.
In addition to the steps being taken above, Disney Cruise Line advises that they may pause, modify or cancel select onboard experiences when required to promote the health and safety of everyone onboard.
As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, Disney has also put a temporary flexible refund policy in place. Guests are now able to cancel their sailing up to fourteen days before embarkation with no penalty!
