Check Out The NEW Makeover of the Explorer’s Club in Hong Kong Disneyland
We’ve got some exciting new images to share with you of a recent makeover to the Explorer’s Club Restaurant at Hong Kong Disneyland! This eatery draws its inspiration from the adventures of Lord Henry Mystic and now features a semi-buffet serving format with exquisite ingredients from different countries and cultures.
Around the eatery you’ll also find colorful mementos and correspondences between Lord Henry and his international friends!
Imagineers from the Hong Kong Design & Show Quality Team added new display graphics, props and illustrations in effort to enhance the relevancy of the attraction! The new displays (created by Den Den Tse and Kendall Elliott) showcase Lord Henry’s passion for making friends and experiencing new cultures around the world.
The new theming also reinforces the Society of Explorers and Adventurers objectives of expanding both human knowledge and cultural awareness.
If the name Lord Henry Mystic sounds familiar to you, that may be because he is the proprietor of Mystic point and a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. The S.E.A is a secret society that connects many of the characters and stories across Disney theme park attractions not just in Hong Kong but around the world.
The re-imagined Explorer’s Club Restaurant is meant to be seen as a gathering place for Lord Henry and S.E.A members. It’s the perfect environment for them to spin their stories and celebrate their travels!
Around the restaurant, you’ll find display cases and cabinets that showcase a selection of the treasures that Lord Henry has brought home form his travels. Look closely and you’ll find mementos from China, Russia, Egypt, India and more! You’ll find everything from Chinese rice stalks to spices from the Calcutta spice market.
You’ll also want to take time to admire the mural painting. These were created by concept artists Sandra Liang and Dilara Polat and all have one theme in common – food is the subject matter!
In what is one of the coolest training experiences we’ve ever heard of, Imagineers donned costumes at the Explorer’s Club and held a storytelling training session for the Food & Beverage Team. Completely in character, they shared anecdotes and adding reach details to the storyline of the restaurant so that the team can continue the stories when the restaurant opens to guests on December 22nd.
