8 Splash-tacular Ways To Celebrate the Reopening of Typhoon Lagoon
If you were following along with us here at MickeyBlog this morning than you may have heard the exciting news that Disney World water park Typhoon Lagoon will once again be opening its gates on January 2, 2022.
As we are in the midst of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration we can’t think of a better time to take the plunge and add a water park visit to your Disney stay. To whet your appetite, here’s a look at 8 reasons why Typhoon Lagoon is a must-do!
1. Catch a Wave
Did you know that Typhoon Lagoon is home to America’s largest outdoor wave pool!? If that isn’t awesome enough you can even sign up for one of the water park’s Surfing Programs and enjoy a private surfing lesson!
2. Create Your Own Custom DOLE Whip Dessert
Did someone say Dole Whip? Thankfully at Typhoon Lagoon you’ll find them in abundance. You can start by heading to Snack Shack near Typhoon Tilly’s where you’ll find a mix of Dole Whip Flavors including mango, pineapple, lime and raspberry. If you’re 21 or older you can also compliment this beloved Disney treat by adding tequila, coconut rum or dark rum! Oh and kids will LOVE the new Moana-inspired Dole Whip cones also on offer at Snack Shack!
3. Hurry to Humunga Kowabunga
If you consider yourself a bit of a thrill seeker than you’ll love the near vertical drops at Humunga Kowabunga. The name of this downhill flume ride down the steep slopes of Mount Mayday doesn’t lie.
4. Indulge in 50th Anniversary-Inspired Menu Items
If you’re lucky enough to be visiting Typhoon Lagoon in 2022 than you’ll also get to sample some of the incredible eats and treats created especially for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. This includes the EARidescent Ice Cream Dream Cone which features birthday-cake flavored soft serve. From Walt’s Chili Nachos to colorful confections you’ll find a dazzling array of anniversary goodies.
5. Don’t ‘Miss’ Out on Miss Adventure Falls
If you’ve yet to experience Miss Adventure Falls, its a worthy addition to your Disney World must-do list. Owned by Captain Mary Oceaneer, this thrilling family-friend adventure is Typhoon Lagoon’s newest attraction and sends you on a treasure hunt for Captain Mary’s loot!
6. Relax in a Beachcomber Shack
Kick back, relax and escape the theme park hustle and bustle with your own Beachcomber Shack. This luxury cabana space features cushioned seating, secluded shade and an exclusive menu!
7. Bliss Out at Castaway Creek
Speaking of unwinding, you can bliss out at Castaway Creek – Typhoon Lagoon’s lazy river. This attraction spans an impressive 2,000 feet. You’ll float through shady grottos, try to avoid thundering waterfalls and be soothed by the lush rainforest landscapes.
8. Chute Down Crush ‘n’ Gusher
We’ll leave you with one last thrill on the Crush ‘n’ Gusher water coaster. You and a friend can choose from one of three chutes- Pinapple Plunger, Coconut Crusher or Banana Blaster. Each has it’s own unique twists and turns!
